I'm just glad we didn't draft Devin Booker

Booker sucked *** on the Lyles balance test, we don't want him.

Hey, Dennis. I think she'll be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

I won't criticize him for drafting lyles over Booker.

I think we can criticize him for rolling with 3 PGs who don't even belong in the league. I could've told you way back in aug that Neto/Burke was going to be a major weakness

I think most of us saw that coming. It wasn't like Neto had been tearing up the ACB. But we're fans and hoped for the best. In reality, I think DL gave up on the team when Exum went down. But even before that, he did nothing in free agency. I really wonder if the Jazz BoD is tightening the wallet to squeeze as much profit out of the team as possible. We know the Miller kids don't really care about basketball.

Why the hell the Jazz didn't draft Devin Booker knowing that Quin's offense is just shooting threes?

Too easy to blame only DL, surely he consults with Quin to complete the roster and for the draft.

I thought this exact thing. I'm sure they have their reasons. Insurance if a trade comes in for Favors or Gobert we can't pass up on? Tons of possible scenarios.

But yeah, would be nice to see a fluent consistent every night. Hood's doing pretty well right there, and I love his post up fade away potential, that's deadly. A few bad shooting nights make me nervous that he might turn into a spot streak shooter.

these threads are ridiculous : In every single draft for like 28 or 29 teams there are players they "shouda" drafted with their pick instead of somewhat esle because hey they have better stats and all. Fans can bitch every single year for almost every single team about drafting x instead of y...

bitching about an egregious atrocious pick like Bennet at 1 is legitimate. Bitching about Lyles instead of Booker is ridiculous because this is the type of thing that happens every year... it's like 26 teams' fans bitching about Gobert, except that Gobert is actually proven useful, while the jury is still very much out on Booker.

I told you Booker was the choice.

I like Lyles at a lot more now. Talent wise I think they are equal. I just thought we needed a shooter more, and was right.

Thee jazz fan was right! Lyles was most definitely the better pick for the Jazz. Glad we passed on a 6’6 wing that has scored 16ppg in his last 10 games shooting 38% from the 3, because had we drafted him, we wouldn’t be able to see ~30 minutes of greatness each game from Joe Ingles and Chris Johnson!

How do you think the players would be doing if roles were reversed... we had Booker and PHX had Lyles?

I personally thought that it was an 11 player draft and really wanted Myles Turner. Think Indiana stole a future star with getting him. Coin toss screwed us. Evens out over the long run, because I'd much rather have Exum's length and potential over Smart's brute strength and bulldog demeanor. Oh well.

With that said, I wasn't really happy with any of the options still on the board when the Jazz were picking. . . but I'm happy they ended up with Lyles. Amazes me how many people bitch and moan about desperately needing to get a stretch 4 in free agency or trades and then the Jazz go and draft a guy who is nearly 7 feet tall, played the 3 in college, can shoot 3 pointers, passes well, plays well in transition, can put the ball on the floor and drive AND has proven to be a better defender than (probably) anyone should have expected his rookie year. Plus, even though he's still pretty vanilla on the court, he's damn hilarious to watch on the bench and in interviews.

He's shown enough potential as a rookie to believe he'll be a regular rotational player as early as next year. Plus he'll have a full offseason to get over to P3 and work his *** off. Build the body, build the player. I'm excited about his future and I hated the pick initially.

I think Booker would be taking the 25+ minutes given to Ingles/Johnson. I think he would have improved our wretched outside shooting.

I mostly created this thread to call out Thee jazz fan for saying that Booker was an unathletic 2 who would be a bust.

38% from 3 pt is hardly anything to be overly giddy about

38% is a great 3pt percentage when you're not comparing it to Curry. 38% is also better than Hayward's (35%), Ingles (34%), and Johnson (28%). So yeah, I'd get giddy over having a wing who can shoot 38% on our roster.

who's to say Booker would shoot 38% in Snyders slow down, killing the 24 second shotclock passing the ball around ,then shooting under that pressure.....I think Booker's shooting % would drop

No thanks. Trey Burke was more efficient his rookie season.

We ****ed up bad.

This might end up being worse than Burks over Leonard (probably not though).
