I'm not convinced!

I don't think the Jazz and coaching stuff are serious about the youth movement. Despite the great draft I'm not optimistic that they want our young players to take over.

Jazz philosophy is that they don't throw young players under the bus and that experienced players are always better and that you can only win with them. Doesn't matter whether they are better players or not. This organization prefers to start veterans.

Take the past as an example. Borchardt started over Okur, Bell and Foye over Burks, McLeod and Palacio over Deron, Foye over Hayward or Burks, Williams over Carroll or Hayward, Millsap over Favors, Jefferson over Kanter, Tinsley and Watson over Burks and so on. That's fact, like it or not. Corbin always says we play the players that give us the best chance to win but what he actually does is the opposite.

I was excited about the current draft and the additions of Sloan and Malone but I'm still not convinced that the Jazz learned their lessons from the past and are ready to take a step forward.

To sum it up: Don't be too excited about next season but I hope I'm wrong...

You are ruining our good juju. Posts like these aren't ok until October.

I know but there is an akward feeling inside me. I was so excited over the additions of Sloan, Malone and the great draft. And the next day, I was like stay realistic, man. Don't get too excited. You know the past of the Jazz. What makes you believe that it will be any different going forward? I don't feel there will be a green light given to oure core five.

I think we all loved the draft and are excited (except orangello - a.k.a. fake fan)
I think we all are nervous about how things play out vs. how we want them to play out.
I think we all just have to wait and see.

Curtis Borchardt started over Okur? You just throwin scenarios together now.

And in case you didn't know, this is Dennis Lindsey's team / era.

I'm nervous, too. I'd be shocked if Hayward and Favors don't start next year, but it's hard to say if the Jazz will trust the other three enough. If I had to guess, I'd say we start three of the young five.

I think Demare Carroll will come back unless he gets a better offer. Also, Lindsey in yesterday's interview said that they do the same analysis tiering FAs that they use to rank draft prospects. They're starting from the top. I think they'll discuss players and salaries while looking at the bigger picture trying to become a contending team. It didn't sound like the Jazz wanted to set the expectation that they'd make the playoffs. They just see Al and Sap as free agents like any other.

Getting Foye or Tinsley back isn't going to push us into the playoffs. But free agency isn't going to become clear until after the Chris Paul and Dwight Howard situations get resolved. Then Josh Smith and Big Al. Etc.

Borchardt prolly
but I remember one obscure Yugoslav center, who had the starting spot for some time in lieu of Okur.
(what was his name?)

That's one hell of an insight. I thought Carroll will just retire, but now I know that he'll be taking the best offer.

Dennis Lindsey said that making the playoffs is an unrealistic expectation. I think it is safe to say that they were be a considerably larger commitment this year compared to last year.

Radojevic?

Hahaha, Rep'd. I remember that guy. He was playing one year for my hometown in Germany when i was a kid. Thx for putting me on memory lane.

Contributing to the topic: I think you guys should relax. Raging and worrying about possible roster strats by the management won't change their decision making. Wait for them to screw up and complain afterwards. Complaining in advance is way too stressful and leads to nothing. Have fun and enjoy drafting a promising trio.

Yes, it was Radojevic, but this was one time I actually agreed with Sloan. When Okur came over he was almost as out of shape as Fes. When Sloan played others in front of Okur, Memo got the message adn worked his butt off to get in shape. It made Okur a better player and one who could go 30+ mins/game.

As for many of the others, I think there are two philosophies: with Deron, Sloan wanted Williams to earn it, to be hungry. I disagreed with that decision because Deron was clearly better than any of the others before the pre-season even began.

With Favors, Kanter and Burks, the veterans WERE better than their young backups at the beginning of the season. The problem is that the youngsters had the potential to be MUCH better than the veterans IF given playing time to develop.
