What's new

Im way excited for tonight's Jazz game

Cotton will probably get cut but not sure he got a fair shake. Never was allowed to play with any of the regulars. A PG is only as good as the sum of the parts.

I liked Cotton last year but tonight he was horrible. McCollum was scoring on him at will, and he didn't do a good job of setting up people. On the one fast break which he fortunately converted, he had Lyles ahead of everyone and should've passed it, but instead took it up against three guys.

And as things stand now, Withey is definitely better than Pleiss and is actually younger by six months than Pleiss. Maybe we will send Pleiss down to the D-League for some development because Withey is the better option at this juncture.

Here in Portland, I'm sure Blazers fans are stoked about how they came back in the 4th quarter to win. After the last game earlier this week I was driving home from work and listened to the postgame. Fans were calling in saying they thought Blazers would compete for a playoff spot, and the guy hosting the show thought they would end up with at least 40 wins. Jazz didn't play their 3 best players at all, and only played one of the 4-6 players in the third quarter only. They should be embarrassed to have been down by almost 20.

Do you think they even let Graham on the plane back to Utah?

Withey makes the team - pretty much a no-brainer. As far as the rest of the "closers" yesterday I'm thinking "none of the above" as the best choice.

Even the uber-homer color commentator for Portland Mike Rice acknowledged (twice) during the comeback that The Blazer starters were playing against Utah's 3rd-stringers.

We liked Cotton last year because his name wasn't Trey Burke and he did all the things that we wished Dante Exum would do - play aggressive on offense, take it to the hole, get to FT line more than once a month.

Without that contrast he's just another D-Leaguer looking for a spot.

Me watching Tibor Pliess shoot 3s

Snyder has to be trolling the Blazers at this point. You can't make a worse lineup.
Yep. Won't see a worse line up the rest of the season

Johnson or Millsap is a very close call. What do you guys think about who has earned himself more playing time?
Millsap

I'm inclined to go with Millsap too because he's already proven he can guard some starting 3/4's in the league and I think he realizes he's not a good shooter. Johnson fancies himself as some sort of corner 3 specialist and quite frankly I don't see it - I can see him and Burke coming off the bench and bricking away some early leads.

Johnson will be one of the last two guys on the squad. Only court time he will see is garbage time. He won't be bricking away anything.

Burke however could be a problem. I see games like tonight and they give me hope. But then I remmeber last preseason. SO I just can't bring myself to buy into him. Not yet.

Methinks my man Bryce is going to have to pursue his basketball career on another continent.

Yeah tonigt solidified this lineup in my mind:

Gobert/Withey/Pleiss
Favors/Booker/Lyles
Hayward/Ingles/Johnson
Burks/Hood/Millsap
Burke/Neto

Graham and Cotton are wished the best and sent on their way.

Right, until Hood/Burks inevitably go down with one injury or another.

I love Burks' guts - the injury didn't result in him dialing down his game one bit. But his reckless abandon leaves a high propensity for bangs and bruises from time to time.

And until Hood can play a healthy 82 I'm going to be wary of him and his foot problems.

Burks injury is not one that you have to worry to much about reoccuring. Right medical guys? Hood some small concern but we will see. Even if they go down the time will go to Ingles and Millsap mostly.
