Pistons get Eric Gordon in exchange for Stuckey and Villanueva/ Jerebko. With Gordon, Pistons get a legit young foursome of their own in Gordon, Jennings, Monroe, and Drummond… Plus, Josh Smith. I think they will ultimately have to move Smith, Drummond, or Monroe for salary cap and/or chemistry reasons. That is a playoff team in the East for sure and better than their current 17-24 record.
With the signing and resurgence of Tyreke Evans, Gordon is expendable and Stuckey could easily slip into the bench role, playing back-up minutes behind both Evans and Holiday. He is a free agent that could clear cap room or could be re-signed at a lesser rate than his current salary. He is probably a $4-6m a year player at this stage. Including Villanueva makes salaries work and he could finish the season as a stretch 4, with Ryan Anderson out. Then he can walk next year or be signed for a veteran minimum deal at this point. Jerebko's salary is less than Charlie's, but he is on the books for next year which could be good for the Pistons and Pelicans. He could actually contribute for the Pelicans backing up Anthony Davis and saves the Pistons salary since they are taking on huge dollars in Gordon and will need to sign either Drummond or Monroe to a max or near max extension.
