What's new

In Which the Utah Jazz tango with the Cleveland Cavaliers Fri, Feb 28 5:30 MT

I have extreme ambivalence about this team. Is anyone excited about Alec Burks being your team's best player? It seems to me that 24 straight losses from here on out has a better chance to break this team out of it's flat-lining trajectory so I'm going to continue to hope for that.

there's that + hopes for a new coach/system + hopes that we have stockpiled the assets to pull off a worthwhile trade.

My problems is that after two+ years of treading water through the Jefferson era, I'm tired of hoping. I want to do something else.

That's because Gordon is supposed to be the Jazz's best player and has played the most minutes on this team by a mile. You're more worried about a rookie's troubles long-term than a 4th year player's (who is up for a huge payday that could force the Jazz into a bad financial decision or allow him to walk without compensation)? Pardon my being blunt, but that is straight up ****ing stupid.

Gordon has shown he can be valuable in other ways, and has a track record of being able to shoot in a different role in the past (you know, the role we are all clamoring for him to fill with a better player added as a #1). The shooting has been Hayward's only shortcoming this season. And my point is we all know he can shoot in a different role.

Trey otoh, has not shown he can shoot consistently for a month, let alone a season (or 3), or do any of the other gripes i had. So yes, i am more worried about a rookie's troubles.

and that's not called being blunt, thats called being a douche.

Other ways?

Like what?

I love how so many Hayward homers bring up these "other ways" he helps us while ignoring the "other ways" he hurts us. Just like how ak47 homers focused on his helped us in ways that didn't show up in the box score while ignoring those very negative ones that didn't show up in the box score either.

Having a weak minded, inconsistent, soft, bad shooting, turnover prone SF hurts. The mere fact that he's the exact same player (maybe even worse) as his rookie year is concerning. Even if Trey isn't the answer, let's give him 4 years and see if he hasn't improved. If he hasn't, then he'll be in the same boat as Hayward.

If you can't see that he does just about everything but shoot above average for his position (not elite, but better than most) then he stands no chance of ever meeting any expectations. He's great at the 2 in rebounding, assisting, decent defensively, has active hands, gets deflections, steals, blocks, he runs the floor hard, he knows how to play the right way even if his shots aren't going down. No one here is clamoring for him to get the 17 mill that ak got so I don't get the comparison. Hayward will get 10ish and I will be happy with that

Why are we turning our 6 foot PG into a spot up chucker?

This is a collective effort folks.

The Jazz ultimately, are a rudderless franchise. The same as they've been since Memo, Boozer, JSlo, and Dwill left.

We have a GM who wants to tank. A coach who wants to survive. A team fighting for new contracts. And an owner too busy passing gas and messing with his beard. He even appeared on a reality tv show!

This franchise can't make up its mind what it wants to do. Tank? Rebuild? Compete?

If we really want to make a playoff push then lets hurry and unload guys like Burke, Burks, and Kanter right now for vets.

You could possibly be the most negative poster I have ever had the displeasure of reading.

The owner should be hands off when it comes to the team, that's why he hires a GM. Greg going on "Undercover Boss" and talking about the Jazz was free publicity on a national level. That is his job.

Also you throw out this garbage about how we are creating a "loosing culture" like it was your political catch phrase. Do you realize how moronic it sounds.

We are playing better than we were expected to. Which means our Jazz are BETTER than was expected. So you want the team to play worse than its capable. YOU WANT the Jazz to create a "culture of loosing". Your thoughts contradict themselves and it truly makes you sound like an idiot.

On what Hayward does well other than shooting.... everything...

Hayward: 16pts, 5.3 ast, 5.5

There are only two other SG/SF in the league that avg above 15pts,5ast,5reb; LBJ and Kevin D.
If you include pg's: Michael Carter Williams, Russell Westbrook.

Duane Wade is real close with 19pts, 4.9 ast, 4.8reb.

That's it. That's the list. Maybe its not that were Hayward homers. Maybe you just don't understand the value of team play. Haywards game is appealing because other than his shooting this year he's all-star material.

Glad you figured out how to download the app, Mr. Locke.

Yeah I'm not David Locke. Although the numbers don't lie. They don't tell the whole story but they don't lie.

I guess the league is trending downward in salary, but we are paying guys like r-jeff 11 million, bieds 9 million, marvin 7.5 million. maybe i'm just getting used to those sized contracts for lesser talents, but it seems about where hayward's market worth is imo.

Well that is just the last years of their contracts. They obviously aren't going to be that high when they sign next year, they'll probably be around 5million ish each year. So I would be fine with hayward getting 10mil.

right, but my point is that in 4 years there will be a whole new crop of players not worth their contracts. It happens to every team in the league. Just hoping that 10 mil is the magic number for hayward.
