Interesting Al Jefferson/Chris Paul rumor that effects the Jazz

Top 10 player consistently for more than 4-5 years. Is Paul Top 10 in the NBA?
Kobe
Gasol
Wade
LeBron
Anthony
DWill
Durant
Howard
Nash
Roy

CP3 is close. He needs to be a little more consistent imo.

Has been a little injury prone. Consistently healthy I guess. Not trying to say he is a bad player. I'd put him in the top 15. Not top 10 though.

I'd probably take DWill, Nash & Rose right now over Paul.

If you want to say because of Injury, fair enough. But he puts up better numbers and is just as recognizable as those players, if not more so. I'm not saying I'd take CP3 over Dwill but he is a bigger superstar than Dwill,Nash and Rose. IMHO

Look at the salaries. Lakers would have a team option on Bynum(16M) & Odom(8M) in the same year DWill has a player option. So Lakers decline options on both guys, putting them about 20M+ UNDER the cap. Dwill opts out, signs with LA. LA re-signs Bynum to a more cap friendly deal and Odom for a little less. Totally possible. How does that make you feel?

I'm fairly certain it's NOT possible. By not taking up the option on Bynum and Odom I dont think they can go over the cap to sign them after DWill takes up their cap space in this scenario. Bynum and Odom wouldn't be "their" free agents anymore once they decided not to take up their options, meaning they couldn't go over the cap to sign them.

paul should be a top 10 player when healthy. he's an amazing pg, right behind dwill for the best in the game. But he has had a string of injuries...IMO hes def a superstar.

I'm sorry, but if you'd take Rose over Paul right now, you simply don't know what you're talking about. Rose isn't even a good distributor (yet) and plays no defense whatsoever. Watch basketball. Rose is a terrific player, I expect him to be great, but he's nowhere near Chris Paul yet. It's not even an argument.

and Chris Paul is a fantastic defender? Ok sure. Your opinion. I don't think you could wrong with either guy. Depends on who else you have.

Uh...Paul is a two-time All-NBA Defensive Team member and he's led the league in steals twice already. Yeah, he's a much, much, much, much better defender than Rose. Pretty solid (not perfect) man defender, knows how to use his quickness, best pickpocket in the league.

And as I also mentioned, Rose isn't a particularly good passer/distributor yet. So please, tell me - in what possible way is Rose a better player than Paul at this point? I'd love to hear it. Is there ANY category in which Rose is better than Paul? Paul is a better passer. Paul is a better distributor. Paul is a better shooter. Paul is a better defender. Paul has a higher basketball IQ (at this point, at least - though he also has more experience than Rose, so it's an imbalanced comparison). Explosiveness? OK, we can call that one a toss-up between the two. So score one for Rose.

Christ, the things people say. What's next? Danny Granger better than LeBron? Luol Deng better than Durant?

This isn't a bash CP3. He is a very good player. So is Rose. You can get hung up on differences if you'd like. Rose has a bright bright future as does CP3. I don't you could wrong with either.

Rose has very similar numbers to CP3's first 2 seasons.
Very close on FG%. CP3 is a better three point shooter and passer & is more of a pass first guard so naturally he would have more assists.
I will bet you Rose will be just as good as CP3 this year and has had less injuries than CP3 makes about 1/3 of what CP3 does too.

I'm not talking about stats. They can be misleading and you know it. I'm talking about which is the better basketball player and which is the better point guard. And I'm basing this on actually having watched the both of them play. I'm sorry, but it's not open for debate. Maybe a year from now it will be. Maybe two years from now it will be. Who knows. But as of right now, Rose isn't even in the same league as Paul.

Again: Paul runs an offense better. He passes better. He's a better decision-maker. He's a better distributor/facilitator. He's a better defender. He's smarter. He's a better ballhawk. He's a better rebounder. He has more shooting range. He's a more versatile offensive player. He's a better foul shooter. He attacks the basket better. He gets to the foul line more. My God, what argument can you even offer? "Their stats are similar"? Really? That's your argument?
