Interesting ESPN Video about Veterans Who Suck.

A few interesting thoughts to me (from the clip):

The top 30 players in the NBA are in a class by themselves; there is not a ton of difference among players between 31 and 500. [A case for having to get a franchise player or two.]

GMs take too little risk on foreigners and NBDL players; the Warriors have found four D-leaguers with staying power. [I'd reckon that Utah has been a bit better at this than others, especially in the foreign department. But I don't think that they've held onto D-Leaguers long enough, either. They've had a third-string PG (shot a 3-point win vs. Cavs) and a third-string/high-defending wing (Otis?) that they could've held on for longer for cheap as the 13th and 14th players.]

Tony Gaffney (some dude in Germany) bragged that he schooled Okur recently.
[Although MO is a cool guy, it's not a huge loss (except financial savings) that Utah got rid of him.]

Teams give a pass to first-round players; the latest example is the Celtics' re-signing Sasha Pavlovic, a [Jazz first-rounder who is now] an OK defender but a subpar shooter [even though I thought he was the opposite as a Utah rook].

With the fact that our team is going to be average at best this year it would seem we should take a chance on 2 or 3 D leaguers/euro guys. Obviously KOC is a great judge of talent based on picking up Milsap, Mathews, ect later in drafts.

Well, I think Tinsley and Howard count as taking a big chance, with probably more upside than a D-leaguer. With a $10M trade exception, I think the roster will stay at 13, as KOC always likes to leave at least one spot open. There's a pretty good chance Utah would take back an extra player or even two in a trade (such as a 3 for 1 + the TPE).
