This.Bottom line: Rubio needs to go to the bench so we can evaluate the Mitchell/Hood tandem (and also so we can win games).

Plus, Hayward and Jingles proved that the offense runs just fine when the wings initiate. Still need the ball movement and finding open shots, but our wings can shoulder a little more of the load. When Gobert is back, I think Rodney should get most of the PNR responsibilities honestly. Even more than Mitch and Rubio. I think he has the right tempo, kind of like Ingles, to open up some space for Gobert.
Hood's destiny is to take Jamal Crawford's throne of being the best scoring 6th man in the NBA.
I think the Jazz basically have to bite the bullet and match w/e offer he gets. The scoring/shooting Hood provides is too valuable to let him go. I wish he would use his skills to set others up more, but the guy has the Mamba Mentality of when he is hot he sees this![]()
This.
I've paid very close attention to Hood's shot this year. I've notice when he gathers himself and does not rush his release, his accuracy is amazing. You can almost tell when a shot will go in just based on how he takes the shot. When he rushes his release, he misses a lot of shots. He is tall/long enough and gets high enough that he won't get blocked often, so the need to rush does not exist for the most part.
Sometimes playing on Basketball-Reference stat finder is really fun.
Only two players in NBA history have a 3pt rate of 48% or great, scored 18 or more PPG, attempted 7 or more 3's a game, and shot 42% or greater on those 3pt attempts.
Those 2 guys are Curry and Hood.

I agree. Hood is far surperior when he has time to control the release. When he is pinching them off quickly or they just explode towards the rim, things get messy.
He is probably getting the max from Sacramento.Paying him makes me nervous. If he stays relatively healthy I think he gets a big offer. He's not the type that I think will go out and look for the absolute maximum offer, so he might negotiate with us and if we give him something fair he sticks around. I think he is comfortable here.
A 4/80 deal is good if he's healthy. He may get more than that... if he's not consistently healthy I think 4/60, 4/80, 4/100... they all suck... kind of an all or nothing deal.
The lift he gets on his jumper is part of the problem for me. It's great, but leaves him exposed to guys getting underneath him (he doesn't get enough calls). Also, if he is nicked up I feel like the lack of lift makes him miss.

I think they are 70 million next year going to RFA. Hood's max is only 25 million. They would need to clear about 14M in space to do that and they have Hield and Bojan at the 2 who they like quite a bit.
So they need to offload Koufos and Temple to make that deal (Temple may not opt in... it will be close, but he seems to like it there). They'd need to take back no players in that deal... they have a roster crunch.
They have done dumber things for sure but I don't think Joerger has much pull and I don't see them clearing space and giving up young players or picks to do so just to make an offer on a RFA... which could just get matched.

NVM, I see now that Koufus and temple are player ,not team options.

The teams I most worry about a huge offer for Hood are Dallas, Philly, Atlanta, and Indiana (if Thad Young opts out).
One of Dallas or Atlanta should end up with Doncic - making Rodney somewhat redundant. I’m not sure that his market will be more than KCP or Danilo Gallinari. Maybe, but I have a feeling his injury history and tighter cap space will depress his market. If he gets maxed I'm out btw.
