at the disdain the media has for Utah for fighting L.A. for the last playoff spot? It's like the Jazz are the bad guys and totally cast aside. Watching Stephen A. Smith and some others at ESPN, it's like Utah committed some crimes or something. It sucks Kobe got hurt, because I wanted the Jazz to get in with no excuses. However, I will take us getting in any way we can. This mind set of "Utah will just get crushed 4-0" that people have is absurd. The Jazz won't get swept and I'd rather go out in round 1 than not make it at all. Anyways, I am new to this board and I am glad I found a place to talk about the Jazz.

It is ridiculous that ESPN had magically written the Lakers into the playoffs the last few weeks, but they are right that the Jazz will get swept though.

first off I'd like to say Stephen A. Smith is a punk!!!

On a positive note you figure anything can happen in the playoffs ...I don't see why we can't win a game or two if we were lucky ... the chance of a 8th seed beating a 1 seed is very rare I'm not sure how many times its happened ... I'd guess three

proof/evidence?

Yes, I hate how the local media doesn't hold the team and FO accountable for their lackluster year as well as the no direction that they have been headed in all year.

Sorry, wrong thread.

I'd be annoyed if I cared about what anyone else thought. I have faith in my Jazz and I do not need the media to root for me. In fact I kind of like that we are discounted and ignored. Makes the victories we acheive that much sweeter when people are like"what the hell? THE JAZZ??!"

Yes we will.

I actually like that ESPN treats us this way because when we win or are good, I enjoy that the Jazz prove guys like Legler, Anthony, and Stein wrong. Can't wait till we are a top 3 team in the west again. I think it will happen with Kanter, Favors, Hayward, and Burks. Hopefully, we'll be bad next year and have a chance to draft Jabari Parker.

The worst are the people who think "Utah is boring, I'd much rather watch the Lakers!" That's seriously the most surface-fan opinion possible. The Lakers are literally just Kobe chucking and Dwight getting hacked and taking brick free throws. Literally awful basketball. They're fighting for the 8 seed for a reason-- it's because they suck, like us.

I'm actually not looking forward to the Jazz making the playoffs (and believe me it pains me to say that), but the major plus of it will be to stick it to the Laker fans and their ball washing media.

Well I would like the Jazz to win out and see what happens. I also look forward to the ESPN spin if the Lakers make the playoffs and win a few series. Will they then say the Lakers are better without Kobe? Everyone knows that ESPN is really a Laker station. ESPN use to be about sports now it is more about entertainment. I really don't listen to all their bias commentators. I watch ESPN documentaries and get my highlights from NBA.COM or NBATV.

proof/evidence?

Asking for proof about an prediction is not really reasonable. How can you prove something that may happen in the future? Can you prove the Jazz would be swept?

To me the argument against a sweep would be that the Jazz have a reasonable chance of a split in Utah. In SLC they are very competitive with top teams, having beaten the top 3 in the west: Spurs, Thunder, Nuggets as well as the Heat & Pacers. Smart money would be on 4-1 in my opinion.

Would it be even worse for Kobe's legacy if the Lakers all of the sudden made a Championship run without him? They would go from underachieving losers to winners all because Kobe got injured. I would lulz hard.

Could happen in the case of having some quality behind him. But the Lakers have zero depth.
On the other hand, Nash is much more effective with the ball in his hands. He traveled with the team to Portland, IINM, and was targeting the GS game to return, but sat out. Maybe he'll play the next two.

Whoa! Earth shattering news here!

The media and nation would rather see one of the most famous franchises in all of sports in the playoffs? In one of the world's largest media markets? Over one of the world's smallest media markets in all of sports? Who employ a coach who essentially flipped the bird off to the media, runs the worst offense in the league, and took 2 years to figure out that he could change rotations?

This is one jazz fan who agrees with the media. Why the hell would anyone outside of Utah want to see the boring alfense over the lakers? Even without Kobe there is potential for more drama. Nash? Ron artest? Dwigt Howard? This is gonna be like watching a train wreck. The jazz? About as entertaining as lunch in a nursing home.

You'd think that jazz fans would have a thicker skin than this. Face it, most of the nation doesn't even know where the hell Utah is let alone actually care about their 1 pro franchise.

The reason why this franchise is still here in Utah is because of an owner who cared, a hof coach with a very successful offensive system, and 2 superstars who gave it their all. This franchise has none of that right now. Unless changes are made we will quickly become the raptors or bobcats of the league.
