What's new

Is Chosen One the most overhyped player of all time?

This argument is so bad. In your mind 2-0 is better than 2-3, admit it. Now think about how stupid that is.

You also probably think that Montana's 4-0 is better than Brady's 4-2, also ridiculous.

5 finals appearances, that's impressive. Two wins is good too, think of all the great players who have none.

Oh and btw career isn't even over yet. What if he wins one back home in Cleveland?

Lebron's Hype is him being the GOAT. Anything less and he has not lived up to it, imo Unfair but that's the hype he gets. So I look at who I consider the GOAT. What I see is that 6-0 is much better than 2-3.

More finals appearances and more wins.

But to answer some of your unasked questions. Lebron is a stud and a once in a generation talent. Guy is phenominal, I'm not hating on him at all. I'd have him top 3 all time.

Edit: Previously said top 5 but Lebron is higher than that IMO.

I forgot I had made this...

He was sold as the greatest player of all time. The guy who would take title GOAT away from MJ, and step over the corpses of all the other NBA greats. What has he done to prove those expectations correct? He has two full titles big whoop. Shaq bought that many too. He couldn't beat Dirk, only beat OKC because Rose went down and OKC traded away an all star to make the count 2 vs 3, and never beat San Antonio. The only reason he got that championship was because Danny Green's 3 point shooting went into the toilet. The Spurs beat themselves.

So what has he done to prove he isn't the most overhyped player of all time? When all is said and done I believe he'll fall from potentially #1 GOAT to somewhere in the 10-15 range.

I wouldn't blame Danny Green as much as I'd say the Heat were lucky as hell for the Spurs to fall apart, let Bosh luckily hit the ball out to Ray Allen who then hit the three to sink the Spurs' ship. Lebron would be 1-4 in Finals appearances if that hadn't happened. And I know we can always play what ifs but this is about as reasonable a what if as we get in sports history.

only beat OKC because Rose went down

What does Rose have to do with Miami beating OKC in the Finals? If you're saying that Miami wouldn't have had a chance to play OKC in the Finals because Chicago with a healthy Rose would have beaten Miami in the East Finals, that's completely misguided conjecture. Miami beat Chicago in the East Finals the year before (Rose's MVP season) 4-1 with LeBron guarding Rose most of the series, and doing a damn fine job at it. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that Miami would have beaten them again, it just means it's delusional to assume they wouldn't have when they were obviously a better team than they were when they beat Chicago 4-1.

and OKC traded away an all star to make the count 2 vs 3

You do realize that the Harden trade happened after Miami beat OKC in the Finals, right? The "star count" was 3 vs 3.

and never beat San Antonio.

Huh. That's news to me.

That doesn't seem anywhere near the type of drop as plenty of other hyped players coming into the league. Greg Oden was often referred to as a modern day Bill Russell and the dude has barely even played 82 games in his entire career. That's just one example.

You can argue that LeBron was over hyped (the expectations couldn't have been higher), but to call him the most over hyped player of all time? Pure hyperbole in a discussion that has no way of proving said claim in a quantifiable manner in the first place.

Let's knock that **** off right quick. If I listed all the times y'all have claimed I'm trolling you but then turned out 100% correct then some of y'all are going to get a little butt hurt. Do you recall the time I was allegedly trolling when I was the only poster claiming the Jazz would and should pay Hayward way more than anyone thought he was worth and that it wouldn't actually be that bad of deal based on several factors? He got a contract from two teams for even more than the number I was trolling you at, and it's worked out just fine.

Yeah, nip that **** in the bud, bud.

I don't care that it's all conjecture. It is.

It's not that I'm saying he sucks just that he will end up nowhere near GOAT like plenty have been claiming the last several years. I think his chance to get to #2 have passed. Where do you think he'll end up? Right now I don't have him in my top 10, but that may change if he collects a couple more rings. Which he has a legitimate chance of doing with LA and SAS falling off and no real dynasty teams coming up behind them.

Oh wow, you da man
I'm so proud of you.

Hope you don't get injured from patting yourself on the back so much

That cuts deep coming from the biggest troll on the forum. Admit it, you get insulted when I and others don't slob the nob of every young player like you do. You can't handle anyone disagreeing with you and get bent out of shape when anyone does, that's why you're acting up yet again.

I'm not patting myself on the back; the difference between me and you is I have a little more class and respect than constantly calling you out and ragging on your *** non-stop for all the stupid **** you've said. And I sure as hell don't get insulted when somebody writes something I don't agree with.

And while we're at it, how sad is it that a bunch of grown *** men get together in a private forum and plan franklining troll raids?

Good god Fish, I've had your *** on ignore for at least six months. I finally took you off like an hour ago. Why you got to be like that?

Lol @ at anybody who thought Lebron would be better than MJ. Michael effing Jordan. Lebron had enormous expectations coming out of high school. He has exceeded them, IMO. He's been the best player in the league for 10+ years. Has multiple championships and could win more. Great, great, player.

I'm pretty harmless bro and make fun of myself more than anyone else.

Sorry if you feel like I pick on you.

(I have not mentioned Burks or posted in the Alec Burks experiment thread, or mentioned the job corbin is doing in Sacramento so I thought I was doing an alright job of taking the high road... some people only see the bad sometimes I guess)

James will, in all probability, pass Jordan statistically, but won't catch Malone or Kareem. He won't catch Jordan or Kareem in Championships, either. He plays too reckless, with little regard for the welfare of his body, to catch Malone and Kareem. He's already falling down hard and crashing to the floor, etc......and that takes a toll on longevity in the NBA. You play with "reckless abandon" and your body with "abandon" you!
