Is Demarre Carroll part of the future?

I like the Russell comparison.
If Carroll added a three-point shot he'd be a true keeper.

And since the Jazz kind of hold the cards here and there's very little risk, it sure seems like a no-brainer to stay the course with the guy and see where this goes.
 
Nobody playing for a job in training camp to get a minimum one year contract is part of anybody's future. And I like Carroll.
 
I like Carroll too. Except I seen a couple plays last game that I didnt like. When he had a fast break with Burks trailing and effed it up. A little selfish I thought. Burks could have finished.
 
I'm not certain, but I think he is already signed for next year, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's a team option, in which case the Jazz could get out of it if needed/wanted.

I am fairly sure I read it somewhere, but I don't know where, so no link. The best I can do is KOC talking to Locke on a podcast:

Locke brings up Carroll at about 49 minutes, and just after 51 minutes KOC says "we've got him under contract for the next year." Since this was April 12, I assume they signed him to a two-year deal (obviously the first year being pro-rated).
 
if demarre becomes one of the core player in the next year, this means Jazz will be challenging for the draft among the other teams such as Bobcats, cavs, raptors etc.
 
I would rather keep Carroll than CJ, Howard and Bell. I like his attitude and effort besides he is younger than Howard and Bell. I think if he develops his jump shot he can certainly be in the bench rotation.
 
I see him as that guy who fills the last starting spot on a team that has a really good 6th man they just don't want starting.
 
Look at Kawhi Leonard for the Spurs. He defends well, hits the open threes, and is a valuable player to the Spurs. The Jazz should be able to use Carroll in the same fashion, especially if favors play starts demanding a double team and he learns to pass out of it well.

Leonard is a much better player than Carroll is. I was a big supporter of drafting Leonard last year. I think we should have drafted Leonard over Burks, fits the team much better with Hayward and Leonard playing together.
 
He reminds me of Bryon Russell, minus the mouth. I wouldn't be opposed to having him on the bench for the next season or two to see how he progresses.

I took so much heat for saying we should have drafted Kawhi. He fell to #12 and we had the chance to take him. KOC even said if he fell to their spot he would definitely be a player to consider.

I love Burks but Kawhi does fit the team better since Hayward is better at SG and Burks after all is a SG

I think Burks has a chance to be better than leonard though. I take BPA
 
Liver disease? What are you talking about. I think we ought to resign Carroll. He's still young, as well, which a lot of people don't seem to consider. Supplies a lot of energy and should get better with experience.
 
It is a no-brainer to sign Carroll over both CJ and Howard. The kid plays with energy and he actually tries to do the right thing most of the time. He could be a key bench player for the Jazz besides he will cost less.
