I guess back to the original question....is ESA obsolete?

No. It's a great place to see a basketball game even though it's ugly as sin.
It's a hallowed temple where we practice our religion.
A belief we all share.

It's definitely not the most beautiful of the NBA arenas from the outside, but it's far from the worst. Check out the Target Center: Barf.

I've been to about half a dozen NBA arenas (some of them no longer in use), of those I think Radium Stadium is by far the best.
