What's new

Is Favors in the long-term plans at this point?

Don't get me wrong, it's hell of a risk because that contract has the possibility of looking really really ugly. You have to really believe that if you put him in our system with our players and our coaching staff he will develop and do better. IMO there is a high ceiling with him too so it would be a high-risk high-reward play for sure.
I think it is worth the risk to get Wiggins. He is still really young with a high ceiling. He has shown the capability to be really good he just needs to learn consistency and how to play defense.

He's young and may mature... he may also become the next Rudy Gay. I'm not sure how much he cares, but he'd be a worthy gamble. I just think they aren't ready to deal him yet.

I'd be shocked if they traded Wiggins, they're about to make the playoffs for the first time since the dark ages.

Also, reports are saying that Joe Johnson will be back this week, as well as Rodney Hood. I think we need to start them both and move Derrick and Rubio to the bench.

Starters: Mitchell, Hood, Ingles, Johnson, Gobert
Bench: Rubio, Burks, Thabo, Jonas, and Favors

I think that's a legit lineup.

What are the chances of the Jazz packaging a deal with Favors for Paul George?

Almost none. I don't see us wanting to rent him... he won't stay. What do you give up for a rental... how far does it get us? My guess is another team like Cleveland would give up something of value for next year even if it was a rental.

My Derrick Favors trade of the day... Wizards are in cap hell right now. Send Favs for Gortat... saves them about $2M in luxury tax and salary this year, but the expiring contract allows them to avoid the repeater tax next year... they also give us a 1st round pick next year to compensate us for the salary burden. Favs gives them an upgrade and maybe they find a way to keep him if he comes cheap.

Gortat is a decent functioning center and is quite durable, so if Rudy is out we know he will be there. Older so maybe he accepts a bench role well. We get a pick and keep the powder dry for 2019.

Until we trade Favs I likely will trade him to a new team everyday.
