Is Gobert the best Center in the Western Conference?

Demarcus Cousins is generally considered the best center in the Western Conference (and possibly the NBA) but Rudy Gobert clowned him tonight. DMC still should be a shoe in for the all-star game, but can anyone argue that Gobert isn't the 2nd best center in the west and deserves an all-star spot? I actually think Gobert might have a better chance at making the all-star roster than Hayward.

There is no center spot in the all star game just front court and back court. So will be up against Davis, Aldridge, Griffin, Green, etc.
If he keeps up this level though will be picked by the coaches. He has decimated every teams front court with the exception of Memphis.

Gasol is stronger than Rudy. But Rudy is damn strong.
Cousins is partying with Matt Barnes and high 5ing him in a drunk state about punching other ppl in the face.

Rudy's trade value is the highest of any C in the league, he's pretty much reached the tier of untradables.. Teams would line up throwing together packages including their starting C's and plenty of other assets if he was on the block.

So honest question - Vivek calls DL and is like "umh... Cousins for Gobert straight up?"

What say you?

No, and it isn't even close. Cousins is a great talent offensively. But he just doesn't impact the game like Gobert. Jazz don't really need offense from Rudy. He gets some lobs, but can easily just score off put backs. But Gobert is heads and shoulders above everyone else on defensive impact. The blocks are tangible; rim protection can be measured. But it's more: altered shots, players pulling shots down or not even penetrating due to his presence. Look how many MLA's teams have. That's not just bad luck. It's players hurrying shots and trying to put a higher trajectory on others because they know Rudy is lurking.

Gobert for Cousins and their 1st round pick - unprotected. Would you do it?

I still wouldn't, tbh. Rudy just makes everyone else better. Plus his amazing attitude and intensity.

The leadership, tenacity, swagger, and work ethic are things he brings to the table that can't be measured too

If you want to build a team you pick Gasol or Rudy there are other talented centers I just don't know if they help their team win as much as their stats may suggest.
