Is Hayward Respected More Now By Opposing Players?

Not sure what this means but I understand it.. I mean you don't have much of an argument here and not much u can say.

My argument is he should stand up for himself and yours is he should follow the rules and not be a thug or a hoodlum. I doubt we find a common ground here.

If he retaliates draws a tech and let's his team down by not playing well because he let some idiot get under his skin. But it's ok because he sure showed the other guy right?

There are a lot of examples of standing up for yourself without being ejected. Getting a tech or giving up free throws I think are a small price to pay especially in the 2nd quarter of a non playoff game.

Sending a message does not require Gordo to challenge West to an MMA fight nor does it mean he throws a punch and I doubt he becomes the Ron Artest of the league.

What is sending a message?

Walking up to West with his chest out like he is about to fight, but not actually fighting?

Pretty much everyone realizes how ridiculous of a practice this is and just makes fun of NBA's fake fights.

Pretty much the only reason to do those things is to appease your own ego of "feeling like a man", which is stupid that you aren't comfortable or confident in your masculinity to the point that you feel you have to prove it.

Like I said, if this was a pick-up game, it makes sense. In an officiated NBA game, it doesn't.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (So did the Indiana Pacers) missed teh playoffs by 1 game this year. To say there are "meaningless" regular season games is foolish.

Yes, I think he can stick up for himself without actually turning it into an mma fight as with nearly every scuffle in the NBA these are not going to be knock down drag outs.

So a technical foul would be the difference between making the playoffs and not? I think that is unlikely.

The smallest person can stand up to the biggest person in the NBA and look tough because both players know that neither player will do anything if they are mentally sane or care about their team. The only way to truly be tough is to play through contact and not complain. The standing up and acting like you are going to fight is just fake tough. You definitely don't want your star getting into any fights were he might do something that will get him suspended.

To mention West is and always has been mentally unstable. We don't need our top player feeling like he needs to stand up to every idiot thug in the NBA we need him focused on basketball and winning games

What Hayward should have done is thrown a few shadow punches and then ducked behind his coaches or other players like JLIII did.
