Is Ronnie Price having the single worst season ever by a Jazz player?

Price has the lowest number of Win Shares for any Jazz player ever (that has played as many minutes as he has this season). He has NEGATIVE Win Shares! I assume this means the Jazz could just plug in any available replacement player and expect improved performance from the team.

He is having the single worst season in Jazz history.
 
Ronnie Price is having a better year than Jason Hart had in his one year stint, even if the numbers don't say so.
 
What's weird is whenever I watch a game and he plays, he seems to be the only one hustling, diving for loose balls, getting to the basket (although not always making the shots/getting fouled), etc. There is no statistic for heart. I feel like he is Utah's RUDY. If every other Jazz player had his heart to match their skills and talent, Utah would win the championship.

It's just too bad he gambles on defense more often then he should and he can't hit a shot to save his life.

Against the Mavericks last Saturday Ronnie had:
6 points
5 rebounds
6 assists
5 turnovers
6 fouls

Shades of the Kirilenko's All-Star 5x5 days. :D
 
Ronnie Price is beyond turrible. Sure, the dude hustles, but for every one "wow" play, there are three boneheaded plays.

Except Ronnie Price's skills are airballing free throws and stupidly fouling right after he does something good.
 
As Chad F pointed out, he airballed a free throw. AIRBALL. THat truly takes an incredible lack of shooting talent, and this was shortly after a three point try that airballed so bad it landed under the basket. There is only one place for someone that small that airballs a free throw shot. Handing water to the people that can actually play.
 
Are you guys too young to remeber the final days of the once great "Golden Griff"? His last season was terrible and made all the worse because he had once been pretty good but had clearly fallen way off. He tried hard, and the harder he tried the sadder it looked. I was young, but felt embarassed for him.

The return of Thurl Bailey was nothing to watch for those with a weak stomach, also bad was the return of Ostertag, Bell, Crotty, Eisley, Toolson, Donaldson and David Benoit after AA.

You might also recall the final days of injured Mark Eaton, or rookies named Morris Almond, Walt Palmer, and Quincy Lewis.

Don't leave favorite targets of jazzfanz venom: Arujo, Collins, Giracheck or even Miles.

I don't know what everyone is expecting. He is a third string poing guard. Sure he isn't the most talented guy on the team but he plays his guts out everynight, which is more than you can say for most the team.

Yes, I'd say when it comes to performance vs. expectation, Bell is having one of the most disappointing seasons ever. Same could be said about Miles. How many guys in their prime have shooting stats actually decline over 5 consecutive seasons?

Price is turrible, but he's also the 3rd-string PG.
 
According to Locke Price still cannot put any pressure on his injured toe. So he runs and jumps off his heal. THis would seriously impact his ability to play, but I don't buy it because if he is not able to use his toe, why did he dribble the ball off it in the 4th last night?

So what you're saying is we should wait to see what this team can do when everyone's healthy?

Re-sign everyone KOC and draft Jimmer to sell more season tickets.

I don't get the Price hate. He is a third sting PG. Whatever has gone wrong with the Jazz this year has nothing to do with him. The guy plays hard every chance he gets. He is not that most talented guy but he gives everything he has. Sounds like he is giving it a go while still injured. If the more talented guys played as hard as Ronnie does we would be much better off right now.

Milt Palacio.

All are much, much worse than Price.

All of these guys had positive Win Shares numbers while playing for the Jazz... except one: Amaechi.

My original query excluded him because of his lower amount of minutes played. Here he is:

Amaechi certainly had the worst two-season stretch of any Jazz player ever. I may have to concede that both of his two seasons were worse than Price this season.
 
I would rather have any PG that the Jazz have ever had playing instead of Price. That includes Hart, Crotty, Larue, Arroyo(who I hated with a passion and celebrated his trade) and McBrick. The guy can't shoot, can't defend, can't pass, and can't play.

That said I hope he plays 48 MPG for the rest of this season. Because it's over and no better way to insure a loss than playing Price as much as possible.
