None of that matters. He'd be far far better if all that went to **** so he could block 5 shots per game. That's all that matters. He needs to run around the court like a chicken with its head cut off just looking for shots to block. Man he's freaking lazy on D.Indeed. He's no. 1 in DRPM, no. 1 in DWS, no. 3 in DRTG, no. 1 in DBPM, no. 1 in DRAPM, no. 1 in Defensive points saved ...
Imagine how much better he could be only if he "gave it his all on defense"...

He's more selective with his blocks and contests. But he's really playing better than ever.
I’m sure there are far less relevant stats.Blocks and steals are the most irrelevant stats when it comes to defense imo.
Irrelevant was probably a bad word choice, overrated is probably more of what I meant.I’m sure there are far less relevant stats.
STOCK’s are good.
You know we changed the defensive scheme right? There were a couple interviews about it. Not much to wrap you're head around, he's got to rotate to the perimeter more often. Also he's a bigger part of our offensive scheme this year, I'm guessing he asked for it.. Hes gotta stay out of foul trouble so we can take better advantage of the freedom of movement rule adjustment. I'm surprised his bpm hasn't dropped even further. Is it just me, or does it seem like Rudy could be doing so much more on the defensive end? It seems like his timing has been off all year. Maybe this seems super critical, but I have watched almost every game this season and more often than I would like to admit, I have seen Gobert body up on D in the post and he gives the opponent what ever they want. Sometimes he doesn't even jump in his attempt to block the ball.
He is currently ranking 6th in bpg, at 2.04 bpg. But the 3 guy directly in from of him, I believe he is a much more talented player and should be destroying them, not following the pack. Brook Lopez, JaVale McGee, and Hassan Whiteside. Rudy has the 2nd highest standing reach in the NBA, and should be averaging no less than 3 bpg, in my opinion. I know that the stat sheet doesn't always translate effort, but even when I watch him, he doesn't always throw off driving defenders shots, like we saw so much of last year.
I am just trying to wrap my head around what's going on with him this season. I think he hasn't even hit his ceiling yet, and is trying out what works and what doesn't. Am I the only one who has noticed this? I am not taking away from the great defender that he is, in any way. He just seems 1% off which is the difference from being #6 rated as opposed to being #1 rated defensively.
Also this. He'll shine playoff time.Jazz have been the #1 or #2 defense in the past month, and Rudy's the anchor, so...
I get it though. He may be able to turn it up a notch in the playoffs.
Lol. He got 25 rebounds the other nightI feel exactly like the OP! When I watch Rudy I expect him to get every rebound, catch every lob, block every shot. For some reason I expect him to be super-human. I think it is just because he is so amazing when he does do those things I expect it every time.
Then I have to remind myself he isn't super-human. I don't have to remind myself that Mitchell isn't super human. I never had to remind myself with Stockton or Malone. For some reason I just expect more than is reasonable from Rudy. And I suspect that is what the OP is experiencing as well.

That's the way I see it, too! He's probably pacing himself so that he doesn't get in foul trouble, end up on the bench and out of the game where he can be of NO GOOD whatsoever to the team! No need to play with "reckless abandon" and end up out of the game and even the league because of it! Give 100%....but remain under-control by picking your spots and using your brains!
This is a joke. Rudy is the engine to the jazz. Rudy blocks, intimidates shots. Rudy is great. The best player on the team!

Davis is sitting out now, with a hurt hand. Rudy will soon have the most win-shares in the league (world?)
