What's new

Is SLC the only NBA city where......?

People make it out to football games more though because there are only 8 of them at home, and only 16 televised. Most of them come on during Sunday, when a lot of the country is off work. Football is just set up perfectly to where there will always be high attendance and ratings.

I think merchandise is just a good way of showing how much support a team has. The most popular player in the NBA usually has the highest jersey sales, so it would make sense that the most popular sports team in a certain city would have the most sold jerseys/shirts/etc. Also, most sports merchandise is pretty evenly priced. It cost about the same to get any sport's team t-shirt, and basketball and football jersey's are similarly priced also.

So the Rockets are the most popular franchise? in the last decade?

Are you saying the Rockets have the most merchandise sales of any pro team in America over the past decade?

I would be surprised if that were so, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are the most popular Houston based team.

I simply think that their Chinese numbers will prolly outperform everyone else w/o doing research...

Holy **** dude, have you not read the rest of the thread? We're basing this sales theory off the ability to isolate sales numbers to the city we are judging.

Los Angeles-USC/Dodgers

Even as an USC fan, I can't pretend they matter that much in L.A. They might be the in thing in L.A. once every decade when somebody like Reggie Bush ends up playing there and they are in the title hunt consistently, but they are a complete sideshow otherwise. It's surprisingly hard to find people in L.A. to talk USC football with(and downright impossible to find people to talk USC basketball with).

No I'm just saying sales is ********. Just because someone has too much dignity to wear a Pelican on his clothes, doesn't mean he's a bad fan. And I'm just saying how stupid is merchandise sales as a measure by using the Yao-Rockets example.

Btw if it was all about merchandise I'd bet the Lakers would be top as they have the most expensive courtside seats. I think courtside seats are a kind of merchandise too.
