It Looks Like All the Non-Guaranteed Guys Are Gone

Also there is something that cctrackstar is forgetting.

This ain't your normal tank that other teams have done in the past
The jazz are re-inventing the tank.... this is The Professional Stealth Tank, never been done before.

This will be the tank of all tanks and bring championships to the utah jazz.
That's right, championshipS.... not one... not two..... not 3......

NOBODY was cut today.

Wait until they get back from LA.

Jody Genessy @DJJazzyJody " By the way, no Jazz practice today. I wouldn't expect any cuts until the team returns from SoCal"

Seriously, maybe you should take the year off. The media and some uninformed fans think the Jazz are tanking simply because they've decided to let their talented young guys be the focus of the team. Did you want another year of Favors and Kanter sitting on the bench? That would seem ore like tanking to me because AJ/Millsap wasn't going to get us anywhere. Did you forget that the Jazz missed the playoffs last year? The only reason why people think teams are tanking is because of the hype regarding this draft.

The Jazz as an organization have FINALLY decided to play and develop the young guys. OKC did this and stunk two years in a row. I never heard anyone mention tanking. All the media talked about was them being the new exciting young team. People criticize SA for tanking to get Tim Duncan, I recall them beating out the Celtics for Duncan. 4 championships later and no one cares how Duncan got on the Spurs.

If the Jazz sit Favors/Kanter for Biedrins and some other slug vet they bring in then yes I would agree they are not rebuilding but tanking. As far as the Tinsley move it was a good move not because Tinsley is all world but he knows the system, he showed leadership last year and Burke is out for weeks or a month or two. If the Jazz had signed Scott Machado to a contract then again there would be more evidence of tanking.

If these young players are so mentally weak that they will fold with a few losses then it is time for the team to find out and get rid of them. The NBA is a man's game and you better pick your head up and play hard or you will be out of the league quickly. This year I am looking for improvement from the Core4 and Burke/Gobert/Evans. It is time to find out what the Jazz have. The future is very bright people just have to have a little patience.

I guess we have a different definition for tanking. I thought that was obvious.

The definition of tanking. I've had the same issue to talk with Stoked before and I think we want the same thing, hate the same thing. I think you misunderstood me. Hell this was the first time I was saying anything positive about a tanking situation since all those talks begun. I myself don't care for the win record or drafted stars more than playing every game to win even if you have a crap team.

Selfish player attitudes can be changed by a good coach. So after the tank we need a good coach. If Corbin isn't it, then move on.

The writing is on the wall for all the non guaranteed guys. The Jazz sign Tinsley because???? Sorry but it was nice knowing all of them. I hope they get a good contract overseas.

It's simple arithmatic, the Jazz never have 15 guys on the roster at the start of the season so that they have flexibility for a trade or injuries. Tinsley makes 14 contract players. Now, they do have injuries so someone might stay on for a bit, but as soon as 3,Rush,Marv are better it'll be cut down to 14.

Not only are those three injured but Evans has missed games and Biedrins hasn't exactly lit the world on fire (not that anyone expected him to do so). In addition, Clark has $200K guaranteed. From late December (when the team hits 33 games) to January 10 (when contracts become guaranteed) the team could cut Clark for nothing. End result they could keep a 15th guy and when everyone is healthy they either keep that guy or Clark, whoever is playing better. The only downside is it costs them a little salary cap space in case a small salary dump becomes available.

Side note: I never understand the "flexibility" argument the Jazz make that the 15th player prevents a 2-for-1 trade. If the roster is full and you make that trade, you just waive a guy at that time. It's easy and teams do it all the time. Honestly it's just Jazz code for "we don't want to pay a 15th guy to wear a suit to games." That doesn't apply right now with three or more players sidelined.

I said nothing about them leaving on their own, I specifically said 'trade'. I am not implying that they will strop trying, I am saying that they will become selfish self centered hero ballers aka Mo, and will no longer have value on a team that tries to play an organized system style of basketball.

Because that's exactly what happened to OKC when they let their young picks play big minutes and had a couple of terrible seasons.

Rotowire.com's crew seems to think Dominic McGuire will stick around. His status is as follows:

"McGuire is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's exhibition against the Clippers due to tendinitis in his right ankle, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Spin:
The injury doesn't appear to be too serious, but the Jazz will likely rest him for the final two preseason contests to ensure that he is healthy when the regular season rolls around."

Lol

Gotta rest him.... can't risk mcguire missing regular season games

All I am saying is that if they start to play hero ball other teams will notice and their trade value goes down.

If hero ball starts to happen on a regular basis is shows a lack of atmosphere and leadership from the FO, coaching staff and team.

All I am saying is that tanking (for me) has a negative connotation. It means a team won't play its best players, they will hold out a player even if he is healthy or they sign inferior players over better players. Last year GS was a perfect example of tanking.

Rebuilding is giving your young talented guys opportunities to develop, clearing cap space and acquiring draft picks and not signing flawed veterans who put up good numbers but haven't been good enough to make the playoffs. It means playing hard and working on improving individually and collectively. This year's Jazz team so far is a perfect example of rebuilding a franchise into a potential contender.

There is a fine line between tanking and rebuilding but I think players (especially younger players trying to prove themselves) have a much harder time with tanking. Ty has no reason to tank because it might end up him losing his job.

My goodness people. Can't anyone see that the rebuilding guys AND the tanking guys are both correct?

We are rebuilding. We are focusing on the youth and their development.

AND

We are tanking. We have no bench. We let Millsap walk. We didn't bring in a quality vet pg. Corbin is still the coach.

The Jazz set themselves up to play the young 'uns AND lose.
