It Might Be Time to Go Dumpster Diving

Unpopular opinion alert:

I'd consider releasing C. Johnson and picking up Perry Jones since it appears Jones has cleared waivers now and can be picked up for less money. I know Jones's shortcomings and wouldn't really expect much out of him. But then again, Johnson may be inactive for most games as well.

Given where the Jazz are, I'd rather have a talented project as the 14th man than someone who may be a bit steadier with a lower ceiling. I also think whatever we can get out of Johnson could be replicated with a D-league call up, while the lineup versatility Jones potentially provides is a bigger long-term asset.

Johnson's major advantage (in addition to steady play) is shooting. Jones's is size, ball-handling, and defensive versatility. To the extent that the League is becoming a bit "positionless," I like that latter set of skills better.

That is not crazy, but I think our 15th man should be a PG just in case. I know Burks and Hayward could run the point if needed, but I would go for a PG for last position. A few worth looking over have been waived over the last couple of days. To bad TJ did not get waived.

I would suspect he would head to OKC to reunite with his college coach.

Do you have some reason to think OKC is interested? He was cut, it's not like he is a big name free agent. That being said he shot 43% in college and is 6'4". There is something to work with and we could use his shooting if he is able to make the transition to the NBA game.

Perry Jones has been passed around like a joint. Chances are if he was actually talented he would be able to stick somewhere.
