TBH, Hayward...and Favors when he leaves ...are casualties of Quin's system. He wants to play 4 out, 1 in. Huge change from the Sloan/Corbin days.

Hayward and Favs are/were the last remnants of the old regime. And anytime there's a regime change, it can result in fitting players to a new system. Favs simply doesn't fit, unless used as a backup center.

Hayward was never much of a 3pt shooter until this past year. Yes, he had a very good percentage as a rookie, then it dropped, but came back this past year. He's always been more about the midrange, especially the step back.

Does anyone else remember- and this may have been 2 years ago- when Quin said something about not having a go-to guy? Hayward took offense and Quin kind of retracted by saying Utah had several players who could they could go to, not just one.

TBH, I think there was some friction between Gordon and Quin. Not that I think anything would have changed the outcome. When Boston signed Stevens as coach, Gordon was as good as gone. That's very clear from the way he talks about him in his manifesto.

We'll now see Quin's system in full operation. Well, at least after Favs is traded or leaves as a FA.
 
This is a massive reach with tons of speculation and assumptions.
 
I agree with the part about Stevens. That is very transparent in his article, calling him the most influential person in his career, or something to that effect.
 
Evidently Hayward had an "I just can't quit you" relationship with Stevens.

And I wouldn't doubt the Corbin years had something to do with it. It was hard as heck to stay a fan when the Jazz were playing so poor. There is no joy in watching such bad basketball. He may have held a grudge.
 
Not sure about the OP.

But, Snyder had 5 years to build a better relationship with Haywood than Stevens.

It's telling where Haywood's loyalty was.
 
My title is a bit misleading. I'm really not blaming Quin for Hayward leaving. As I said, I don't think anything was going to keep Hayward and Stevens apart.

But I do think Quin's system doesn't fit Favors. And it may very well fit a 3PT gunner (like a Korver) at the wing more than it did Gordo.
 
Quin is going to have him murdered or throw games.. you'll see

When it came down to it. . . Stevens was more important to Hayward than the Jazz. Sucks to be on this end of it, but so be it. I still love Quin and what he's done with this team. Even without Hayward the Jazz have a bright future.
 
How dare Quinn put GH in a position where he could become an all-star. Shame on him. Blaming this on the offense is ridiculous but clearly his love affair with Stevens will go on forever. And the stuff people are making up about things that hurt Gordon's feelings are pathetic. Not sure how he made it past 6th grade if he is that easily hurt and offended.
 
Edit that title. Your point isn't about blaming quin, but the system. Your title says 'it's all quin's fault'.

Look, Quin developed Hayward from a decent player into an all star with the help of his staff and Hayward's efforts. Hayward left IN SPITE of that. Hayward made his decision because the Celtics have won a championship and he doesn't think the Jazz will get there. He may be right. Regardless, if he doesn't think he can lead us there then we aren't getting there with him.

Who's going to the Jazz vs. Celtics RMR game to watch Mitchell and Exum take out some revenge?
 
Even so, I'd much rather trust Quin and Lindsey than Heywood and Favors as coach/GM.

But that's just me.
