What's new

It's happening bros...

Quin wouldn't commit to starting Kanter and talked about match ups per Andy Larsen... Seems like the Gobert era will be starting... Remember what he did to LMA last time?
Yep. Gobert started the 2nd half, IIRC. LMA was contained but the Jazz couldn't score and fell behind big time. That's the problem with having Gobert, Exum and Millsap (or Ingles) in the starting lineup. The opposition only has to worry about shutting down Hayward and Favors.

From Basketball Insiders:

The curious case of Enes Kanter.

The Utah Jazz did not extend Kanter’s deal in October and he has since been supplanted in the starting lineup by breakout sophomore Rudy Gobert. The Jazz have been fielding calls on Kanter for most of the year but have really downplayed any desire to trade him, which is likely why he went public with the idea of a trade request.

The problem is while several teams have tried to engage with the Jazz on Kanter, the Jazz continue to act as if they don’t have much motivation to trade him.

Over the last few days, a few teams have been linked to Kanter with the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics being the two teams that surface the most.

League sources are struggling to understand if Utah will genuinely do a deal or if they are simply trying to gauge Kanter’s real value around the league in advance of free agency in July.

There has been a sense that the Jazz were going to let free agency play out and ultimately match a free agent offer sheet if only to retain Kanter as a future trade asset once he’s locked into a new deal.

This one seems like it could go either way. There are teams willing to deal for Kanter, the question is what will Utah demand to make a deal happen before the deadline?

Umm, Basketball Insiders may want to know Gobert has NOT supplanted Kanter in the starting lineup...at least not yet. And it reads as if it were Utah that had a unilateral chance to extend Kanter's contract and decided not to do so. Doesn't work like that. Not sure who "Basketball Insiders" is, but this article makes me think they're just another bunch of yahoos pretending to be experts.

That's a real possibility - not even sure how I found it. Some person on twitter.

It's also Against league rules to deny a player from the media, once he has been requested. So interesting. Kanter also blew a kiss towards the media while going to the locker room.

Snyder: I've enjoyed coaching Enes the whole time I've been here. Our whole group is committed to improve as best we can, Enes included."

Quin Snyder: "I think for us, we're in a good place. I think I can speak for Dennis and everybody that we like the group we have. "

When asked if Enes' comments change how Quin will treat Enes moving forward, Quin avoided the question: "It's not something I'm focused on."

Quin Snyder: "To be honest, Dennis probably gets tired of me meeting with him. We're in communication about everything almost all the time."

Quin Snyder: "I like Enes. I think Enes is one of the guys that over the course of the first half of the year has really, really improved."

For those interested, I just got back from hanging out with Jamez. Very much a real person. In your face haters!

Interesting. So hard to tell around the trade deadline what's genuine and what's an attempt to raise value.

Weird. There have been a few bits of evidence that Kanter has lost his mind and has created some alternate reality.

1) His present valuation of his basketball skills.
2) His comments about Andrew Bogut.
3) His forgetting of the fact that he doesn't pass the ball and that that fact is actually important for him to stay on the court.
4) His trade request (did he refer to himself in the third person??).
5) His twitter statement "patience, patience, patience".
6) And now his blowing of kisses to the media.

So Kanter didn't talk to the media today..... does that mean we are working on a trade for sure? Seems like if we were keeping him, Jazz PR would be focused on righting the ship ASAP as far as his image is concerned.

Exum: "Gordon, I just beat Joe in shooting, so just tell everyone that."
Hayward: "Dante's shot has improved throughout the season."
Hayward, cont. : "Dante's shot has improved a lot throughout the season, first time he beat Joe, apparently, and he's bragging about it."

Gordon Hayward: "Guys are going to make their own decisions... [Enes]'s my teammate, and I've enjoyed my time with him."

I thought they had to be available to the media twice a week during the season or something like that. They can make players unavailable at certain times if they choose.
