What's new

It's official. We are blacker than the nuggets!

It's also official that the Nuggets are more Italian than we are. Birdman alone makes them more tattooed. Based on what I saw from Kanter, I also have to assume they're better dancers. And I have a sneaking suspicion they're funnier at cocktail parties. But we're still a young team so there's hope.

I never said "Utahns are characteristically racist."

You're right. All you said was:

why do many people in utah hate black people?

I cannot imagine how anyone would conclude that you're saying Utahans are disproportionately, generally, and/or characteristically racist. Just what the hell was your point if not that/those?

Dunno if you're sheltered or what, but Utah has a reputation for being a bit too pale, if ya know what I mean.
If I know what you mean? Yes, I know what you mean. But what the hell does that have to do with the people being racist? Talk about automatic - and less than half-baked - judgment.

You should probably stop embarrassing yourself. Or continue, this is kind of fun.

I see this thread meets beantown's standards for being a worthwhile/successful thread

Finally.

I never said that rep. is deserved or not. But you automatically made a judgement about me, as you have in other threads.
Conclusion= you're a ignorant d-bag.

Well, the major reasons that Utah has a less than average black population are probably as follows:

1) Most of the mountain western states (your Idaho/Utah/Wyoming/Dakotas/Montanas/etc) have low black populations. In US history the states with large black populations are former slave holding states (ie the south), or large industrial cities where blacks moved to get jobs (Chicago, Oakland, LA, New York, etc). Salt Lake is a decent sized city but nowhere near those cities in size. Hell, Denver is a much larger city and only has a 10% black population.

2) Not that I particularly want to get into a religious debate, but I know that the LDS church prevented blacks from getting into the priesthood until the 70s, and I don't know how much of that institutional racism carried into the community. That being said racism hardly has stopped blacks in history from moving to places, so IMO reason #1 is far more relevant. You don't see a lot of blacks in Montana either, mostly for the reasons outlined above (and as far as I know a church doesn't dominate their politics or state). I'd actually dare say that history has proven that the percentage of people of a race has very little relation to the racism of an area.

then there's Gordon Hayward...who's actually a translucent white color that forces me adjust my TV contrast and brightness everytime they zoom in on him.. ;)

I was going to say something like Gordon Hayward is so white that it takes away color from the others, but your comment was funnier.

...I would rather have a team with all black players with no tattoo's....than a team with all white players loaded with tattoo's! Obviously, I don't have a racist bone in my body!

All I meant was the jazz usually are whiter than other teams. And nuggets are blacker. Completely humor, not being racist.

It seems you're being genuine so I'll bite and offer a tip. It wasn't so much starting the thread as it was not including anything along the lines of "many fans would have never thought...", "maybe this will change our perception among the dumb *** fans on real gm", or "it's annoying that people have commented so much over the years on white players in Utah".

Starting a useless thread with nothing but "discuss" is troll 101 here. Add in your low post count and you're red meat.

Maybe the Jazz would be a better team if at least one of there players had a massive ridiculous colored tatoo on their neck.
I almost forgot about the religious game winning implications of a 2 foot mohawk as well.
