Its Time to Tank

I mean first game, we started:
Conley, 1 time All-star, age 35
Clarkson, SMOTY winner, age 30
Lauri, All-Rookie team 2018 and starter in Cleveland, age 26
Jarred Vanderbilt, starter in a playoff team in previous year, age 23
Kelly Olynyk, played 23 MPG in NBA finals 2 years earlier, age 30

Is that a tanking team? Average age 29.

If Lauri wouldn't have exploded the way he did, then yes, that is likely a tanking team.

Based on what? Were they not NBA starter level players? Did we not have solid veterans? Did we not have a deep bench?

Agree to disagree. Public influences the media. The label was correct. We started off really hot for the first 13 games. Those 13 games were the aberration. The games following those 13 fluky games are more what we are. 19-28. That would put us 3rd worst in the west right now. Hell, even with that fast fluke of a start we are almost 3rd worst in the west.
And we literally gave away the hot start right after it had occurred. Went 2-8 in the next 10. Been a near .500 team since... and almost all of our games have also been close ones throughout the season.

We are 9-8 in our last 17 (11 home, 6 away), and that includes 2 blowouts at home where we played terrible basketball because the trade deadline mill was grinding the team mentally. We are not above .500 team, but we are not a bottom team either as you claim. We are right where we are supposed to be in the standings. Hopefully we slide down a few spots as its obvious we are not going to make a splash in the playoffs if we stumbled there.

Also if the label was correct and public influences the media, then you should have no trouble showing me someone reputable who still uses the word "tanking" to describe us?

Also, here is our season in 10 game stretches:
7-3
5-5
4-6
3-7
6-4
4-6

So the 31-40 game stretch is our bad stretch and start is our good one. Also notable that 41-50 was our 2nd best stretch, and the trade deadline turmoil ruined the last one from being tied 3rd or 2nd best at 5-5 or 6-4.

I think we are likely gonna be more 4-6 than 6-4 rest of the way though... which I would prefer at this point. Seeing Lauri, Kessler, Sexton, THT and Ochai take steps forward would warm my heart even more but we still need more high end pieces so I hope our starters play great but our bench ruins enough wins. The next 5 games are crucial, since we play OKC 3 times in that stretch and if either team goes 3-0 it might be decisive for the play-in at the end. I suspect its gonna go either 2-1 or 1-2 though.
