Yes, the impeachment process against Nixon were formally initiated on 2/6/1974, and on 7/27, 7/29, and 7/30, the House Judiciary Committee approved three articles of impeachment:

But, of course it's accurate to say he was not impeached. "Your President is not a crook" and he resigned.

Mueller's appointment of Michael Deeben is the reason people are assuming Mueller is serious about looking into obstruction of justice:

But, Trump can fire Mueller, and neither Rosenstein during hearings last Wed., nor one of Trump's lawyers on Sunday would rule out that possibility:

I think what the OP's link shows is that the Congress won't begin impeachment proceedings until one of the following:

a) Midterms are near and Republicans feel it to be advantageous to dump Trump than to stick with him.

b) Democrats take control of the House and begin impeachment proceedings once they're sworn in. However, unless they take the senate, they cannot seal the deal. The House merely needs a majority vote to impeach. The senate needs a 2/3rd vote to convict. Nixon resigned because impeachment proceedings would've clearly dominated the rest of his presidency and could've resulted in possible conviction and prison time. It would be interesting to see if Trump would resign and retreat off to some golf course far away or if he would put the country through hell trying to fight this for the foreseeable future?

I think Trump would full on fight impeachment, and that it would come back to bite him. Give him enough rope, so to speak.

I still think Pence would be worse for the country than Trump. Trump is a circus side-show more than anything else. Bipartisanly he has lost a huge amount of support, in fact by most except his inner circle. Pence commands enough respect to actually get things done and harm the country for real. I think we are better off with the clown for president rather than the Joker.

Pence could accomplish little. He is not a player in the political schema of the RINO or progressive partisans I think that would give us a little time to re-shape our political ranks and find out neither the RINO republicans or progressives can win re-election.

The American people fundamentally want to oust the CFR and the mainstream media from ruining their country and whole hog dismantling the Constitution and refusing to respond to their repeated demands for a government they own.
