I find it funny that most of the players used as examples to prove the OP wrong are guys like LeBron, Jordan, Malone, Durant. Hello these are once in a generation type talents. Not one of our 4 guys were, are, or well ever be in the same class as these guys. I am one that is one the we need to play the youth more bandwagon but come on guys.
I well say that the play them right away method backfires also. I personally think that there are some really good players that if they would have been developed more in there first couple years playing behind another guy (who was at least of equal talent) that they would be much better players today. The one that comes most to mind is Tyreke Evans. Guy was a ROY and played great, But really has regressed since then because he was playing on nothing but talent that year. Teams figured out his game and he hasn't been able to adjust his game. So now he is a good player but could he be a better player? I think so.
