Jabari Parker...

The Bucks don't want him.
They won't match a decent offer for him.
His stock is down.
Jabari IMHO can play the stretch 4 position as a big, athletic 3.

Would you do Alec Burks and a 2019 first round pick for Jabari Parker S&T @ 3 years x $12 million per year?

If not, would you do Alec Burks and a 2019 First Round Pick for Jabari Parker S&T @ 1 year x $14 million.

Jabari on this team would be fun, but given S&T rules are as screwed up as they are, would either of those deals even work? I'm still not entirely sure no how that all works now.

Jabari would count for his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater in a S&T.

Using your trades Jabari’s outgoing salary would count as 6M from the Bucks and they would be getting back $11.5M. I don’t think that would work because the Bucks are over the cap.

We’d probably be better off offering the full MLE to Jabari which is $8.6M I believe and hoping the Bucks don’t sign. We lose nothing so it’s a win-win scenario.

And yeah, I think there is risk if he is a big whiny doodoo head. That's the reason Utah traded Hood. Big whiny doodoo head who had injury issues and couldn't play defense.

I don't know that his team doesn't want him.

As far as the op deal that won't work. We would need a 3rd team to get involved. But I would love that first contact amount. That is really low for Jabari. He is looking to get over 20 per. I think he will end up getting an offer from the Kings for what Lavine just got. If not he will take the qualifying offer and wait until next year .

Plus, if you actually want Jabari on the Jazz the worst possible thing you could do is try yo sign him. Milwaukee is going to match on anything within the MLE and just trade him later. If you sign him and they match, they can't trade him to you for a year.

If that's the case, why don't we trade Burks and our 2019 1st for Jabari and sign him to a declining contract that starts at $17? So pretty much, it's $8.5 for $11.5.

Why for the Bucks - if they waive Zeller or Jennings, they are still under the luxury. Burks is better than either of those guys. They don't have a 2019 1st since they gave it to Phoenix for Bledsoe.

Why for us - sure, $15 seems like a lot, but it's really only $5.5 million if you consider Burks probably wasn't going to play that much this year anyway. If the deal does something like $17, Team Option $15.5, Team Option $14, I think it's worth the gamble.

I'm not sure if we are all the way under the luxury with that deal, but seems like it makes sense for both sides. We would just probably need to do a Udoh dump at the deadline to get under the luxury.

No, that’s not how it works. It would still count as 17M in salary coming back to us not 8.5M.

That’s what makes S&T so difficult to pull off now. In your scenario we couldn’t do it because were over the cap.

It counts as 8.5M going out for Milwaukee and 17M coming in for us.

I don't see where we can get that sort of deal done. If Jabari takes the QO, he has a defacto no trade clause. If the Bucks sign him, they'll have a disgruntled player on a multi-year deal. A S&T needs a third team to take salary from us and that can get awkward and I doubt the Jazz ship a first for Jabari due to his knees. It's hard to see a path going forward for him unless the Jazz maybe ship a player like Bradley for a TPE or something on a wink-nudge from them that they don't match Jabari.

I'd love to see some sort of deal where the Jazz get him for the MLE on a 2+1 type of deal, and then trade the Bucks a heavily protected first so that they don't match.

I’m not a cap expert but I believe this is true. If it’s not someone please correct me.

You may be right, but let me double check:

In the trade, I'm using $8.5 for half his salary because that is the S&T stipulation. But for our salary cap purposes, I understand it is $17.

I'm not sure what works in terms of the floor, capped out, etc. But for the S&T, I believe that works (half of $17 is $8.5 which works for a $11.5 contract going the other way).

The easiest way to do this deal is:

Burks for Dellevadova with the understanding that the Bucks will not match on a MLE deal.

Since Dellie makes $2 less than Burks, we are within striking range of getting under the luxury.

Since Burks is expiring and Dellie makes $9.6 in 2019/20, the Bucks probably jump on this.

We sign Parker to the full MLE for 2 years.

Makes sense, but signing Jabari pretty much guarantees the tax for the Jazz. Just a side note.

The only real way I see to get Jabari is to send burks Andrew a sweetener to a third team with cap, then in a separate deal, absorb Jabari with a trade exception. Even then, I think it’s a bad move.

Niang >>>> Jabari

We need to bury this one imo. Jabari could be the guy we need but seems like he doesn’t have enough self awareness... then you add in injury issues... then you add in defensive issues.

Would jabari be happy with his bench role here? I just don't think so. I'm good with us rolling out with Niang as the final roster guy and moving forward. He is a light's out shooter, can handle, and pass. I think he might be better on D than Jabari too... he's always in the right spot it seems. Watching close in SL he is getting everyone where they need to be and many of the guys are looking at him for direction a lot.

I just think there is so much more value in signing him to a 3 year minimum deal just like Royce. We only have to use him if there are injuries, but i know he will be ready when called on.
