What's new

Jabari Parker...

I really don't know what the big deal is. I'm pretty sure he's just taking his 7 day fast from social media.

Take a break from the fake!

G understands. Nothing to see here.

I hope the Jazz hurry and sign someone. They were just two games away from missing the playoffs last season and everyone in the west (except Houston) may have gotten better.

My biggest issue with Jabari is... where will he find playing time? We just let a pretty good role player go in Jerebko. Jabari is going to want to start or at minimum, be 6th man but only for a year.

So, he eats into Thabo's and Crowder's minutes, basically at the '4'. I'm open to it. I think he'd be better as a '3' anyway and backup Ingles with Royce.

Yeah once we re-upped with Favors it meant that was the direction the team wanted to go (double downed on defense), and it was bassically a "bye bye" to Jabari.

You know, this thought has crossed my mind. We are just as close to being the three seed as we are to missing the playoffs entirely. The West is insane and going to be a bloodbath.

Obviously I have no idea if any moves were even there, but this summer sure feels like a missed opportunity in a tight market to add more scoring. I am in agreement with the strategy of retaining the free agents, but I really think we should have done something with Jonas’s, Sef’s and Udoh’s salaries and roster spots. None of those guys were in any way critical to our end of season success.

He really is the next Jimmer. The big difference is he will have a place in the league and not in China, but in the eyes of love-sick Jazz Fanz he is the wet dream that Jimmer was so many long years ago, and so highly over-rated it is bordering on silly.

Just say NO to Jabari.

Lol.

You just agreed with homeytennis on talent evaluation.

There was really nothing to do. The only FA worth renouncing Favors and Exum for was Paul George. It didn't happen. So you renounce Favors and Exum to sign exactly who? You give up a 1st to dump Burks' salary to sign a FA for a year and help them get a raise to play somewhere else next year?

There's still the deadline to trade Burks' contract for a player. The Jazz still have almost full flexibility for next season (less Exum's deal).

What in the heck is going on around Jazzfanz. I cannot wrap my mind around the anti Jabari sentiment.

I totally can understand if your hesitation is about the knee. That makes sense. But not recognizing that this man is a superb talent is absurd. Going as far as saying he is the next Jimmer, a bench player. Good heck. I cant help but wonder just how small the box some people are living in.

At 21 years old he averaged 20 and 6 on 49% FG 37% from three.

At 19 - 12&5 49% FG
At 20 - 14&5 49% FG

He clearly was ascending into being a very good basketball player. If you watched any highlights or games you can clearly see that he has the tools to be a dominant player.

There is also little to no evidence of him having a bad attitude. Where does this stuff even come from? The narrative just seems to feed into itself somehow.

He is the closest thing to an allstar talent that we could possibly even get right now, and everyone is trying to find any excuse they can to not like him

And how do we get him? I don't think Milwaukee could do a S&T due to the BYC provision. And there's not a chance in hell he accepts 2 years of the MLE.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Parker. With Favors back, we are not a player for him anymore.
Sacramento can have him anytime they want. They can exceed the 19m/y offer needed that Milwaukee can't match from being hard capped. Sac apparently wanted Zach Lavine more though, so tells me the value they put on Parker isn't 19m a year.

Good post. I’m with ya

Take it as you because it is the NY Post, but there is evidence there. Complaining about playing time, Giannis reportedly wanted him out, unfollowing all the Bucks social media stuff and Giannis, etc.

Hardly evidence. Some reporter says Parker is jealous of Giannis? How would he know that? I seriously doubt Parker actually told someone that. Some guys extrapolated it from no where. Parker has only mentioned touches and minutes. Im not going to take that as jealousy or bad attitude. He is guy who is very good at basketball. He has worked very hard at his craft. He has worked very hard to come back from injury. He knows what his value is. He knows that the injury situation is looking to cost him a lot of money if he cant reprove himself. To me, thats not a bad guy. I understand his concerns. Should he have kept in house? Maybe. Maybe he did and Giannis or whoever is the one with a bad attitude about it. We dont know. Ive seen enough interviews from him where he comes off as a good guy. Im not going to jump to conclusions because some reporter is looking for attention to his stupid story.

Giannis is going to be the downfall of the Bucks. He just seems to complain too much about everything. About his coaches, about Bledsoe, about Parker, etc., etc.

I wouldn't be shocked if they have trouble building anything around him in the future.

As for Parker, I hope he signs his QO and becomes a UFA next summer. If he plays well and stays healthy, then we can consider letting Thabo go, letting Favors go and paying for Jabari. At this point, I just dont see how we get him and how he plays consistent minutes.

Perhaps and like I said, take it as you will. But dude has complained publicly before. But to be fair, a fair portion of players do. And he did unfollow all the Bucks related stuff on IG and Twitter. I just wonder how this stuff would fly in an organization like the Jazz.

Ad hominem is always the best way to express your argument. When you have none that is. Might as well just say "nuh-uh" really loudly. "Idiot!" seems to be all the rage right now, maybe try that.

The guy is just plain over-rated. Got sent down to the G league repeatedly last season. All stats dropped off dramatically last season, ALL of them. He cut off his team's social media, which in today's world is almost the same as publicly requesting a trade. Cannot work his immense talent into a team with another immense talent. If he were that good they should have a super-team right now. Instead Parker is on the outside looking in, and hoping to parlay the famed potential into a big contract. I give you that part of that might be that Giannis doesn't like him, but if he were that good why wouldn't Giannis want him around to create their super team? He practices and plays with Parker and has WAY more overall exposure, as does the coaching staff and FO that sent him down to the G league. Maybe they know something we don't? Then again, we all knew better than the jury what really happened in the OJ case, after all we saw a half of the trial so of course we know better, right?

He might get things straightened out, he might overcome the injury bug, he might turn into a solid 3rd tier player, he might be able to partially carry a team, he might become a consistent contributor, he might get out of the G league, hell he might become the league MPV, he might be the next Jordan (Next Jordan #2,186, they are pretty common among fans). Those are a LOT of mights in a guy that wants a big contract. It would be a huge mistake to pay for that jumbled mess right now. No reason to add Parker, he is not the missing piece, he is not a current all-star talent, and it would be a huge waste of resources for us to tie up cash and time in a project that might work out and might not. We are in win-now mode, not buy high and hope in a few years maybe if we are lucky we have a possible solid third or 4th option. That is a great recipe to waste Rudy's peak years. Who do you think we are, Sacramento?

Don't get me wrong, I like Parker. I hope he gets it together and turns into something. I will root for the kid. On another team. Not worth tying up our valuable cap space on a questionable project right now.

Haha.

I mean, thats definitely some better arguments, but imo still off.

You agreed he was the next Jimmer, which is not even close. Had this guy not had the knee injuries the talk about him would be a whole lot different. I accept that its too risky to tie up money into him. But I do not accept that he is not, and was not ever really talented. From what I can tell it looked like he still was very explosive after his 2nd surgery. Which is why I would take a gamble on him. It is a gamble, yes. But scared money dont make money. The Jazz have essentially been scared money their entire existence, and we have zero championships. Just saying.

I really like the current team. But if we are all honest with ourselves, its probably not going to beat Golden State. Probably no one is for a while. Especially if you arent stacking your team. Jabari is rare opportunity to try and stack your team. In case you haven't noticed we dont really have many opportunities to add top level talent unless we get lucky in the later parts of the draft. Thats why its worth the risk to me.

Re-read my post. I noted he is the next Jimmer IN THE EYES OF JAZZ FANZ, in that he is the Second Coming, as Jimmer was viewed by many. I also said the difference was that Parker will have a place in the league, Jimmer is in China. I never once said they were the same in terms of talent or ability. Parker is definitely an NBA player. But he is severely over-rated by fans of the Jazz, like Jimmer was, and part of that is the tie to Utah.

Also, it might be worth the risk at some point, but not right now. All signs point to us being very active next year going after free agents. Better to go after the big names first, and then fill in with 3rd tier talent when that fails, rather than commit to possible 3rd tier talent and possibly miss out on the true missing piece.
