Jackpotting Around: A Utah Jazz Podcast

subscribed. Starting ep 2 now. The first ep was really cool, the only feedback i'd think about offering would be things that you'll probably naturally do anyway. I think for an hour podcast i personally enjoy if there's a little bit of structure provided like segment 1,2, 3 etc where there's a quick description of what will be the focus for each 10, 15, 20 min period, but that's me. Otherwise just tightening up the flow etc which will come naturally. It's very cool to hear how well you guys know the NBA and honest takes about your own team and players, nevertheless i still intend to tell you how wrong you are about various **** in the forum even when i don't know what i'm talking about lol Looking forward to many more eps, excellent work blokes

Well done guys, i thought episode two improved on episode one. Art sounded much better and I again liked the guys you are including in these trades and guys you wont include (lauri, sexton, hendricks)
The "is this something" discussion was fantastic. Not sure if thats a segment i will normally like but this week it was great. Brought up something i hadn't thought much about and provided a ton of info on why these early 2nds have value similar to a late first. Prior to hearing the convo I would have said you were stupid for thinking that. Now im in agreement. It is something.
I love when HH does analogies. Especially if he can loop something personal into them (like raising kids etc) I like the gas station change to laundromat and arcade analogy.

Question: Is this Chads podcast and Art is more of a guest/sidekick or is it an equal share thing? I feel like Art needs a bit more time on the mic. Dont want to drive any wedges or anything and I do think Chad is more of a natural to be the lead but I was just curious.

It’s a co-pod but I think I may operate as host for organization purposes. We are getting our reps in and figuring stuff out so it will start to move more towards 50/50 time type of thing.

@Elizah Huge has been awesome in doing all the stuff that make the pod available on the various platforms and pushing it on the socials too. I am generating some of the segment ideas so will end up talking more as we tease those out. I also talk a lot for a living and in general talk to much so good luck reining that in… if my wife can’t do it none of yall can.

And as always your feedback is super helpful. In the next couple episodes I plan for a specific shoutout you are going to love.

Thank you so much again fish, your feedback is greatly appreciated. Glad you liked the new segment.

It’s a 50/50 pod. I’m cool with Chad leading it off and breaking down the agenda and segments. He’s a natural at stuff like that. It was his idea for the "Is this something?" segment so I just let him cook. Listening back to it I should have interjected a little more to break things up a little.

Going forward there will be episodes where I talk more and vice versa. We work extremely well together because I’m the tech guy producing the pod and everything that comes with that. He’s the guy keeping it on track and organizing everything.

So it's well known that I'm a bit old school when it comes to tech. I have never listened to a podcast before this, my phone is bereft (I hope I used that word right) of apps that most Americans have, and I have never subscribed to a YouTube channel or whatever.

Is this podcast something I can subscribe too? Would that cost me any money? Would it be beneficial to you guys?
Right now I just wait for an update in this thread but if subscribing is possible, free, and beneficial to you then I will just do that. Provided I don't need to download an app

on spotify or apple podcasts you "follow" and the show will automatically pop up in your podcast feed. More followers the better, so yeah it all helps.

Its all free. We just waiting for all that Built Bar money to roll in lol.

I listened to part of episode 1 and most of episode 2 just now, hopefully my feedback is constructive. Obviously take it for what it's worth and my best recommendation is just make the pod what you want it to be and have fun with it.

I don't listen to many podcasts. I just don't really have very many moments in my day where it makes sense to listen to a pod, basically just during my lunch break and on my ride home from work. So when I listen to a Pod I expect to get something different out of it than what I can read online. When I heard you guys were doing a Pod I was intrigued, but honestly not too interested since I know you don't have any inside information or connections and I can read your opinions on most things here on Jazzfanz. After listening to the first two pods I think the most value they bring for me is 1. Entertainment 2. A summary of all the media you both consume, and 3. Your knowledge of the salary cap and feel for what other teams are doing/looking for.

As far as entertainment I am enjoying hearing your voices and especially HH seems very natural in his delivery. It would be a little more entertaining if you disagreed a little more. I'm not sure if you guys ever listen to Maggie and Perloff on CBS radio, but they are some of the best, imo, at having entertaining arguments. They are good at disagreeing without being disagreeable. They purposefully take different sides of the argument to make it more interesting.

I like that you both seem to consume a lot of NBA information that I don't. You are consistently referencing pods or tweets that I hadn't heard and seen and so it's nice to have a summary of all the most relevant Jazz related information. I think this is probably the most value I can see in listening to your pod moving forward.

You are both pretty knowledgeable and fair in your analysis of other teams and the salary cap and CBA. This is nice since a lot of other pods that have more connections, etc. don't have this. I will say that the trade discussions is what dragged on the most for me and why I didn't listen to the whole thing. I don't need to hear 3 different versions of a KO trade, for example. Just pick the one you like the best and discuss that.

It feels like you are trying to stay away from too much Jazzfanz references in order to attract a larger audience. This is probably the right call. I think the other way to go about it is making it very Jazzfanz focused, you might even work with Jason on some type of agreement. You could be the official Pod of Jazzfanz for example.

Anyway, hopefully I don't come off as a prick with these comments. I really don't intend them to be read that way, I'm just thinking in the early stages you might be open to all feedback as you shape it into what you want it to be.

Great Job!
