Mark Jackson doesn't regret having guaranteed a postseason berth in his first season.

Jackson believes the Warriors, who finished with a 23-43 mark during the regular season, were better than their record indicated.

“We’re closer than that,” Jackson said. “At the end of the day, we are what our record said we were. But we’re much closer. You take a look … we closed the season with our four best players injured (Andrew Bogut, Stephen Curry, David Lee and Dorell Wright). … We are much better than our record indicated.

“But we’re going to have to get healthy and then continue to build toward putting some proper pieces around our star pieces.”

Golden State will be slotted seventh overall in the 2012 NBA draft lottery.

“I think it’s a very deep draft with a lot of talent,” Jackson said. “Certainly, the seventh pick or better will give you somebody who can play right away and help us. What we’ll do as an organization – management, ownership, and I’m definitely blessed to be part of the decision-making process.

“We’ll sit down, take a look at all the guys and make a decision. But we feel comfortable with this draft of getting someone who will help us.

Wishing luck to the other 7 teams.

Last off-season Jackson promised the Warrior's fans they would make the playoffs..........

I hate that franchise more and more every day. I want someone to leapfrog them in the draft just so see their faces!!

I hope they lose the team to Seattle or someother big city. Piss on that organization and the fans supporting it.

Relying so much on the draft to "improve" the team is pathetic. This culture creates nothing but a bunch of bad apples.

I think they are relying on health more than the draft, which is even more pathetic considering their best two players are as injury prone as any player in the NBA not named Oden.

...the draft used to be the way to go....but with so many hopper types coming out of college, the pickens are slim to find fundamentally sound young kids with any brains and athletic ability!
