The Jazz need Burks' expiring contract for 2019. That's why we got Crowder, we saved almost 10 million by replacing Hood. The name of the game now is to win enough so that we can draw stud free agent in with the 50 million dollars we got to spend between now and 2019.

That’s why I liked a Burks for Carroll swap. DeMarre’s contract is an expiring next year also. . . just higher at about $15 million instead of $10.5 million.
 
Crowder is a much better fit than Hood for our team because he's so much more versatile. Hood is merely a scorer. Notice how much better the defense is with Crowder than Hood and tougher too. Imagine him and Thabo together. I wonder if Thabo will be back?

He took one 18 footer early in the shot clock (I think after an offensive rebound). It was strange for a Jazz player as we had a whole shot clock to look for something better, but he was pretty open. I'll let him shoot that. Maybe next year Quinn will reign in folks a bit and ask them to be more selective (Ahem Mitchell) but as for now I'm loving the freedom they have out there.

We need willing shooter in the second unit. Especially because he is new I had no problem with anything he did. Tough to fit in immediately and I think he did great. Seems genuinely happy to be here and that was my biggest concern.

Quin's offense is designed to get someone/anyone an open shot, so shoot it if you're open and forget about the shot clock. We got frustrated with Ingles because most times he passed up an open 3, nothing good came of it.
 
Coach Q preaches take the uncontested shot. That's a big part of the game plan. I'd rather shoot an open shot early than force one late in the clock.

TS% doesn't say much about a player's shooting. Gobert has 63% TS%, noone would mistake him for a shooter. Crowder shot 40% from 3 last year. That is great, but it also is 1 season. Why take that season and not every single other season of his when he's shot under 34%?

When discussing wings who take a lot of threes it absolutely does say a lot about a player's shooting. Either way he asked why people think he can shoot. 61% TS or 40% 3pt just a year ago is the answer. You may find reasons to disagree, you may not like the answer, and that's fine- but it is indeed the answer to the question that was asked.

OK, fair enough. It doesn't make the answer any good. People are taking an outlier and presenting it as the norm. It isn't!

It is possible that he improved his shooting. Might be an outlier, but he might end up between 34 and 40. Say 37. That's good, given that he gives you other things.

I'm with you. I think he might have become a good shooter, just out of sync in a tough situation, bad coach in Cleveland, but I'm not convinced. Early returns are positive however.

Yeah. Lets hope Quin can get him back to his previous form. That contract might be pretty nice if he does. It used to be considered one of the best contracts in the league.

If he shoots 35-36 and plays above average D, that would be pretty good IMO.
