What's new

Game Thread Jan 31, 2021 1:30PM MT: Jazz at Nuggets

Added to Calendar: 01-31-21

If anything we should be encouraged by the fight this team had despite everything going against us. Mitchell and Conley shot 5/22. Jokic had 22 points in the 1st. They shot 15/17 from 3 in the first half. We were down 30 at one point in the 3rd (88-58) and somehow managed to cut it to 99-91 in the same quarter.

Wins streaks eventually end. We need to keep going and not drop easy ones with lack of focus. Get the big games against the LA teams, keep our standing up, and move forward. Tuesday we play Detroit and the Clippers play Brooklyn. A chance to reclaim first place.

This. I was expecting a 40 points blowout after the first half. I prefer to lose when another team plays spectacular than have one of those 65:66 type of losses to Grizzlies we had in the past.

This going to be a tough game. we need multiple guys to play well and for our defense to be great. Jokic is going to get his. He is a great player but we need Rudy to be like he has the last few games. Last time we played the Jazz were mentally tough and hung on to win despite poor play by Bogey and DM. I am nervous about this game but feel if we shoot like we have been then we should win.
Jokic used to struggle against Rudy but lately think he might have Gobert number

I wouldn't say this was a schedule loss, but it did feel like the game that the streak was going to end. Oh well, so it goes, off to another streak.

Let's bullet-point this.

- Jokic had a career night
- Denver had the best 3 pt shooting half in NBA history
- Conley and Mitchell shot 5/22 combined

We lost by 11.

We're fine.
Jokic dropped 35 last time vs. Spurs and lost. This time he dropped 47. He's on a roll and I don't think single coverage can stop him.

Eh, Jokic could've scored 50+ and the game would've still been more than winnable were it not supplemented by the greatest 3 pt shooting half in NBA history.

We used to hold him decently when we played Faves and Rudy toghether, as we had the hability to give a body to roam on him (and wear him down) and still have really good rim protection inside

Was a really strange option to me to go small on him, even more as we actually had Morgan coming out of really good 2 games against the Mavs, where he allowed us to play a really interesting zone defense that could've been a solution for the non Jokic minutes that weren't good either this game

Campazzo tearing us apart when we had a chance to complete a comeback gave me a throwback to when he was still a young rising star in Argentina and played against the team i'm a fan in Fiba international competitions in different years, nearly ten years ago. Quite a ride for him

I actually feel the same this is not normal nuggets shooting and we played half *** basketball. We are better than this

Denver make shots with hand in face. Not normal shooting. Defense may need little effort more. But it difficult when other team shoot lights out.

It's pretty normal for Jokic this year. He's shooting 57% this year. And it's not like he has easy looks all the time.
