Jan Vesely out of the NBA

Wasn't Locke crazy for this guy? Pretty sure David Locke had a mancrush on this guy prior to the draft.

I guess his team left his Oreo in the milk for too long...

I think that Vesely wasn't a real Oreo in the first place, so that dumb theory is not applicable to him.

Another guy that couldn't get to 10 ppg his first summer league. I'm telling you, coaches should use that metric and sell high. It's the holy grail of analytics unless they rebound or block shots like a maniac.

He will play for Fenerbahçe, Enes' old club in Turkey. He couldn't play for Kentucky because of Fener...

Just another crazy overrated international prospect drafted on potential only about 20 spots to high aka tzikitishwili, korolev, sene, bargnani, milicic, byombo, etc. I think Jazz have couple similar stories waiting to happen.

I remember myself advocating that this guy could be really good, so I'm as guilty as anyone in thinking that he'd be something.

Goodness, he came to my team. I don't like him. However he could be beneficial under Obradovic. I'm hoping, obviously.

When a player busts or booms I like to go back to articles that were way off about a player. There was a Kevin Durant one a couple of years ago that was fun to read. This article right here way way off about Jan Vesely.

This website specializing in international players mentions Jan Vesely. Here is what the website stated about Jan Vesely.

"When Vesely plays at his highest level on the defensive end, he’s putting the fear of God into players..."

"Expect Vesely to have an Andrei Kirlienko-like box score with stats accounted for in most all categories."

"Jan Vesely the most athletic prospect to come out of Europe in a decade. Maybe ever."

"This is one talented player in the Nowitzki mold."

ROFL!!!!!

AK47? Nowitzki?

It is interesting how much people under-rate the ability to simply put the ball in the hole. Bird was not the most athletic player, but at the end of the game his ability to put the ball in the basket from anywhere on the court trumped literally everything else. This is so basic to the game, but so often fans get caught up in the bright lights and glitter of dunks and flashy moves, when mostly careers are made and championships won by the team that has the most players and best system that can just put the rock in the hole. Basketball is not rocket surgery.

Probably a good move for him. He could have stayed in the NBA, it's not like he didn't have a chance to get another contract, from what I understand. He will get more minutes in Europe and could possibly be back in the NBA at some point if he can get his confidence up and work on expanding his game.

And yet we jazzfanzers make statements like this about Exum.

Exum = Stockton in Kobe's body

we are not ones to talk, even though we are posters and not writing articles... well... some of us.

Locke liked three international prospects, Vesley, Kanter, and Donatas Montijunas. I thought he was highest on Montijunas. I was, still think he can be really good. Wish the jazz had him in this new offense.
