Jason Collins is gay

Surprised that his brother is gay or that he came out?

The timing of this announcement is brilliant. Being 36, sucking and a free agent, chances were good nobody would offer him a contract next year. No way the NBA lets him go unsigned now. It could be viewed as the league being anti-gay. Jason guaranteed himself at least another year in the NBA.

Well he did go to Stanford.

Are you already drunk enough to leave this comment? It's Monday... before noon (California time)... Damn.

You seem a little touchy about this subject. Thanks for sending this messsage:

"definitely one of the ten stupidest things ever said on this board. it well earned a rare neg rep from me."

I'm honored.

For what' it's worth, I couldn't care less about anyone's sexual orientation. I live in the Bay Area. In case you hadn't heard, there are a lot of gay people here.

Oh, well now that I know........ I can see how evolved your comment was.

Welp. Chris Brossaurd just went on air with a huge anti-gay rant about how the Bible says it's awful.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4PTUPXdfE0&feature=youtu.be

Please let this be the thing that fires him.

I mean, honestly, I'm more offended by his awful basketball analytics than his biggotry.

But yeah, this is just straight up unacceptable to say on national TV. It's okay to be like "I'm concerned at what this may cause in the locker room", but to go on a huge religious rant is straight up ridiculous.

I wonder what his rant may have been had it been his idol, Kobe.

Rant or calm declaration of his personal beliefs?

Takes probly more courage for Broussard to say what he believes than for someone to come out as gay in the PC generation.

Yeah, definitely wouldn't call it a huge rant. Just gave his opinion on how being gay relates to being a Christian. I think he did it without seeming hateful.

I'm not a Christian though, so I really couldn't give a ****.

Ya I usually cringe when Christians talk about the gay subject. He handled it well.

Are people that have pre marital sex offended by what Broussard said?

Same. "Active" is being generous. This guy basically has nothing to lose at this point in his career so it's not really an issue for him to come out.

Nothing to lose? That is stupid. This could easily effect his chances to get jobs post-NBA. What if he wanted to work for a team somehow, either as a staff member, announcer, etc. and they didn't hire him because of this?

Here is a long Broussard video with more context. Talks about him and a gay (or at least, gay supporting friend) who get along, even though they have different views on the subject.

This kind of brings up a great point. If one Twin is gay, and they're genetically identical, does that mean the other is too?

Much attention has been given to genetic studies. Among homosexual males and females who have identical twins, about half of their twins are likewise homosexual. Since monozygotic [identical] twins are genetic duplicates, it seemed logical to conclude that some mysterious gene caused the deviation. However, note that half the twin siblings were not homosexual. If this trait were really genetically programmed, would not all the twins have it? True, genes and hormones may play some role. Even so, Scientific American reported the findings of some that the evidence “strongly suggests that environment contributes significantly to sexual orientation.”
