JaVale McGee Waived

A perfect example of a player with physical gifts but a brain like a rock. We already had one of those with Fesenko why would we need another?

cuz.. trading Kanter hurt our chances of being highlighted on Shaqtin a fool.

I might be off my rocker, but having him back-up Rudy for 10-15 minutes a night would only make our D that much better.

McGee signed the ludicrous deal (at least for him) and has either been injured or sucked ever since.

No thanks.

Theoretically. It would be super exciting to watch him and Booker dunk over fools w/ the second unit.

Most of McGee's past on-court misfortunes seem more like maturity issues. Maybe he has grown up? It's worth the shot for the vet min.

Wow...Philly is on the hook for $12M next season for Mcgee - less whatever he signs for, I guess. No wonder he didn't accept any kind of buyout. That's pretty expensive for buying a 1st rounder. But I guess as far under the cap as Philly will be, that just brings them up closer to the salary floor.

Nobody knows what the hell Philly is doing anyway, I expect any stupid decision coming from their end. Their blatant tank process is going to blow up in their face.

I laughed when I saw this was in the Jazz forum instead of General Sports. I wouldn't want the Jazz to sign McGee period, but if they did I wouldn't want them to pay anything above the minimum.

They're just churning picks until they find players they really want to keep. I agree with getting rid of MCW; he was a chucker. Philly might be done with their rebuild by 2025.

It's crazy that it didn't even end up being a buyout - McGee didn't have to give up anything to become a FA.

McGee didn't want to be bought out. He said he just wanted to play and he didn't mind who he played for.

I didn't word that last post very well. It seems crazy to me that Philadelphia was so intent on cutting on ties with him.

If you were owed $12M next season, why would you give up anything? I really see no reason for players to accept buyouts. If a team trades for a player, they have to be willing to take on the full guaranteed salary. If they don't want the bad contract, they shouldn't make the trade.

Philly wants to cut ties because he isn't part of their future. Why give PT to a guy who will be gone after next season? And that's one of the main reasons Utah wouldn't have wanted Enes back for the qualifying offer.

Seriously, I'd gamble on him and throw him and I'd throw him some type of Booker deal. I'd give him the rest of our cap space with a team opinion for next year with partial guaranties. Could you imagine going from Gobert to McGee. Headaches all around!!

Javale McGee is a 7 foot Nick Young... He will never win anything.

Philly believes in building assets right? So if they think it was worth releasing him then there must be something very wrong right?

Also, those advocating for bringing him in may not have seen his most recent playing time... He's been hurt, but he looked like he was gimping around pretty hard. He's not the bouncy 7 footer you remember.

Also, even when he was blocking shots he didn't have a great impact on defense per plus/minus and other advanced metrics.

Long way of saying "Hell no, to Javale"
