Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

We had three wins against GSW, not two, and one they were at full strength. We beat the team in the league with the best home record... in their house, we took San Antonio to OT on the road when LMA has a career night, we beat the Wolves in their “biggest game in 14 years,” we blew out GSW by 40 when they were playing three all-stars, we’ve lost two road games in like 17 games.

The Portland game sucked but we’ve been beating top teams all year while having let downs against depleted teams or crappy teams.

I'm talking since All-star break, but yeah if you go back farther we did have wins vs. Portland, S.A. and the one you mentioned against G.S.

A lot of good wins since Jan. 24.

But... the losses in the biggest games since ASB (excepting GS) show that we're probably not really ready for prime time.

OKC has lost almost all of their big games over the last 6 weeks too.

We'll see, hopefully we can match their intensity. Westbrook scares me and PG just had 40 pts.

Every single game was the "biggest" game since ASB. If you forgot we would be out of the playoffs with 2 less wins.

Everybody loses some games. Jazz are still one of the hottest teams in the NBA.

A win vs. Portland is bigger than a win vs. Dallas.

You guys are getting defensive.

Big wins against top teams are key and we've had some but since ASB we've mostly come up short. And the real issue is that we weren't even competitive.

Yet if we dropped the Dallas games we would be out of the playoffs... See what I'm saying? Every game is big, this is a weird argument to say the Jazz aren't showing up when they are on an absolute tear.

I agree with you but I'm talking in the context of gauging ourselves against the top teams.

The Warriors have lost 10 of their last 17 games. So how impressive were those wins, really?

Yes, we looked amazing in those wins but again, in the context of hot teams we didn't fair that well.

****, we lost home court?

My concern is that we've basically laid eggs in several important games this spring. The first Portland game they beat us bad coming out of the All-star break, when we were hot going in. Then we lost to San Antonio. Then we lost to a depleted Boston. Now we lay an egg against Portland again. Yeah we had some good wins but all of these games were a chance to gauge ourselves and we just didn't compete.

How are we in close games? Because it seems like we're not that good in games against good opponents who we should at least be playing tight.
I disagree. Basically since gobert came back we have been pretty dang good against all types of teams (bad, good, and great teams) in all types of situations (close games, blowouts, etc). Im thinking that we have a top 3 record in the league since the return of rudy. Maybe even the #1 record in the league.
Member that win in a close game against a super hot #1 seed toronto?

Rudy came back Jan 19, we are 30-8 since then (2nd best after Rockets) and #1 in Net rating with far and away the best defense and almost a top 10 offense (12th)

Yet Portland embarrassed us twice, a shattered Boston team beat us when everyone knew we wanted that game badly, a Spurs team missing a few of their best players beat us, and Houston embarrassed us.

We've been really damn good overall but those losses say a lot. No big deal, we're right where we want to be and I'm not expecting us to beat the top teams yet, but it's a little discouraging that we didn't show up in the biggest games.

So it's either win EVERY game or the Jazz suck because losses look bad? Losses almost always look bad. Losing is not a good look, generally.

There's a reason why the NBA playoffs are not a one and done format. Any team can beat any other team in one game on any given night.

The other team gets paid too.

There are 2 teams that have more wins against +.500 teams than us. Warriors and Rockets
^^^^^this^^^^^

We ok
Could be better
Could be a lot worse

And this is year one of the new era. We are putting it together on the fly, and doing a stellar job of it. Let's see what the playoffs bring, but whatever happens from here on out will just make us stronger down the road. I refuse to cry in my beer over imperfections, when this team has FAR exceeded my expectations. I haven't given up hope of the Jazz making noise in the playoffs this year, but I'm really pumped about the next couple of years. Goobert, spida, chowder, slow Joe, Favs, Ricky, ROYce are some of my favorite players ever... and they are on the same unit!?!? Throw in Swede, Howl, Xman, Epke, baby stock and top it off with a coach who talks straight and looks like a marvel villain...gah. there are so many storylines and personalities to love with this team. This team will get better and better. Even without bringing in new talent. Keep them together, let them develop the subconscious connecting that comes with familiarity, and we are set.

Teams lose. Yes as a fan it sucks when your team loses but it happens. The facts are Jazz have lost a LOT less than the rest of the league.

I think you just have a stronger emotional reaction to a loss rather than a win and weight that differently in your mind or something.

Who is it? What's with the little fairy dance he does after each shot?

Brandon Armstrong (I think is his name)... he got famous imitating players and making videos. I never found them good or entertaining but some people went nuts. It’s like Kevin hart kind of funny for a few minutes and then I sit there and go why do people like this?

Yes we are good. Yes, we've been on a tear. But we've under-delivered in most of our big games lately. That's all I'm saying. It's not about being emotional to a loss.

Blew out Minny in Minny... Blew out Clippers when they still had a chance. Beat the teams we needed to... so no let down games. Lost a tough game in Porty last night on tired legs... it happens.
