Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

Alright, final update before the all star break!!! CHOO CHOO!!!

Spurs, Timberwolves and Thunder all lost last night. Nuggets and Rockets won.

What the Thunder and Wolves loses does is place them in the realm of the Jazz catching them and passing them in the standings.

Here's why:

Current standings 4-10 seeds and games behind the 4th seed

4. Wolves 35-25
5. Thunder 32-26 (2)
6. Nuggets 31-26 (2.5)
7. Blazers 31-26 (2.5)
8. Pelicans 30-26 (3)
9. Clippers 29-26 (3.5)
10. Jazz 29-28 (4.5)

We are only 4.5 games behind. I think we make those games up. Here's why:

Strength of Schedule rankings of above teams (1 being hardest, 30 being easiest)

Wolves - 5th
Thunder 6th
Nuggets 7th
Blazers 8th
Pelicans 15th
Clippers 10th
Jazz 27th

Jazz have a substantially easier road than the teams in front of us

Road games remaining for above teams:

Wolves 11
Thunder 13
Blazers 11
Nuggets 14
Pelicans 11
Clippers 14
Jazz 10

Less games on the road means more games at home.
On a side note want a measure of the Jazz? here you go:
Only 4 teams have won more games against the good teams. The Celtics, Warriors, Rockets and Sixers. Jazz are beating the good teams. Just need to focus on those intentionally trying to lose now.

In short, the Jazz are clicking and the road is way easier than our direct competition. How does the 4th seed sound to everyone? Sounds great to me. So let's take another step forward tonight!!!!

Tonight's Recap:

Jazz v Suns
Warriors @ Blazers
Lakers @ Pelicans (/vomit)
Thunder @ Grizzlies
Clippers @ Celtics

If the bolded win it means the Jazz will be tied for 9th with the Clippers, .5 game behind 8th, 1 game behind 7th, and 2 behind 6th and 5th who will be tied.

GO JAZZ!! CHOO CHOO

4th seed, beat the Wolves in round 1, Rockets in round 2 and GSW in the western finals. Sounds okay to me.

So you think the Rockets will be the #1 seed and the Warriors the 2nd?

Either way let's do it. I'm all in.

I think there's a very real possibility. GSW looks lackluster, and I don't think they care that much about the 1st seed. Doesn't look like it, anyway. Still, if we are to win it all, we need to beat both.

Really good info, thanks for the research.
If we get the 4th seed i will have permashowerboner.

And while it feels like they're all winning all the time, Spurs, Thunder and Wolves are all 4-6 over the last 10, Pels are 5-5, Blazers 6-4 and Nuggets 7-3.
Then again, we can just keep winning, and then don't care what they do.

I want the playoffs for so many reasons...

but as Locke recently pointed out I am concerned. The Jazz have won 10 straight but haven't moved up the western conference standings. They had a deep hole to dig out of and I'm not sure the level they are playing at is sustainable (they won't finish the last 25 games 25-0).

Locke is just trying to temper expectations. Some fans are talking about 4th seed or whatever. We have closed the gap on the teams ahead of us... We were 19-28 and talking about tanking. Jazz will win tonight, and a couple of teams ahead of us have a good chance of losing - we will be fine.

I'm not. See my above post.

Here is the last 10 for those teams:

Wolves 4-6
Thunder 4-6
Nuggets 7-3
Blazers - 6-4
Pelicans 5-5
Clippers 6-4
Jazz 10-0

Add to that the disparities in SOS and home/road games both of which heavily favors the Jazz. Jazz had a huge hole to dig out of and they did. Yes they didn't move up in the standings but they clearly dug themselves out of that hole. It used to be that we didn't even see the pack. Now we are part of it.

I believe Jazz will lose 5-8 games, the others 10-15. But I am not sure which team is the easiest opponent in first round. Just know I don't want Rockets first.

I want the rockets in the second round. I would like the Spurs in the first round unless kawhi comes back.

I want Minnesota in round 1

Spurs the last team I want if Kawhi is playing.

I meant the Spurs from two days ago. We can 100% beat those guys.

If fully healthy, then I'll take Minny. Or OKC. It doesn't really matter. We can compete with either.

Anyone other than GSW and Houston would be fine with me. If I had to choose (from top 5), then the Spurs.

I agree with the first sentence.
I would be happy to play minny, Spurs, or okc. In that order.
