Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

Calling all Bus ticket holders.

I’m going to be less present for a while and my updating of the playoff Bus OP and day to day game focus posts will slip.

Any posters up for the day to day game highlight posts?

Any mods up for updating the OP with standings and what not?

Looking at the rest of the schedule, Jazz have 12 games they should be favored and must win. 8 tough games against the top teams that they need to take a few from, and 2 that are toss ups that they need. 16 wins in there gets em to 47 and probably in. Last 2 games are against Portland a golden st. Portland will be fighting for position more than likely, but golden st. May be resting which could make that game winnable. 11 games against tanking teams left. I like the odds

Still seems like a tall order to me, mainly because other teams are likely to keep winning. If we need 17 W's to get in, that means we'll have to win all 11 gimmes (see our struggles against Suns and Dallas for evidence that we likely drop one of these), plus both toss-ups. Then we need to grab 3 out of 8 tough-team games. If Utah pulls this off and gets into the playoffs it'll be a remarkable achievement.

P.S.—I don't feel too bad about teams like the Wolves dealing with players lost to injury since Gobert has missed so much time this year.

We will certainly drop some unexpected games, but we’re going to win some unexpected games, too.

The other teams all have much much stiffer schedules. Play each other a good bit. It's impossible for all of them to keep winning. Jazz made up a s^$t ton of games in the past 13. Just because they haven't passed anyone doesn't mean they aren't gaining.

Unless the Jazz go on another 11 game winning, its going to take 2 of the teams falling a bit from the rest of the pack for the Jazz to make the playoffs. Chances are it happens with as much as the other teams are playing each other, but I don't think you can expect 4 teams to go under .500 for the remainder of the season. Thats what it will take for Jazz to get a 5-6 seed if they end up with 44-45 wins.

Well said. Works for me under both simple math and simple logic but I obviously have an inferior definition of what that means. Point still remains - good chance of getting to the playoffs, tall order to get to 6 or above.

Next 10 games
Jazz 8-2. Doable with schedule
Clippers 5-5 could easily be worse
Nuggets 7-3. Easyish schedule
Okc 6-4.
Por 6-4.
NO. 5-5. Tough schedule
Twolves 4-6. Could easily be worse. Brutal schedule, no Jimmy butler
Spurs 5-5. Also a brutal schedule. Could easily be worse

This is going to be an interesting finish if things play out like the schedules look

If it plays out close to that it will make 8 teams all within 3 games of each other for the 3 through 8 spots with 10 to 12 games left. This is one of the best closes to a season in a long time.

Are you considering that som of those teams have to win their tougher games because they are playing each other?

I didn't go through it that in depth, but I think it will be close to that. For the teams playing better right now I errored on their side for the win in a toss up. Then again I am pretty high so who knows.

Looking at the Nuggets, they could easily go 8-9 wins in their next 10 games. Its going to come down to whether or not teams like Cleveland, Indiana, Detroit, Milwaukee, etc... can help by beating some of the other teams ahead of the Jazz.

I’m going to bump the tank thread... every time I do we win like 7 straight.

The Kings, Suns, and Magic are a disgrace to the NBA.
So were the Jazz a few years ago. Your point? Those teams are looking to reset their rosters, just as DL did in his first couple of seasons. Lindsey just didn't go far enough and wasn't able to get multiple high draft picks. His only prize was Exum. Subsequent losing rosters only netted Lyles and picks he traded.

i give him credit for offsetting Burke with Gobert, getting a serviceable Hood which he's now parlayed into Crowder on the cheap, and turning Lyles into Mitchell. Of course he wasted a pick by trading for Hill (without securing an extension agreement) and then another 1st to get Bricky. If Dante turns out to be Mitchell's wingman, DL will look like a genius, though.

The Jazz have been struggling since the break, but it really is an easy next 10. I see them going 7-3 at worst. It's going to be Denver vs. Utah for the 8th seed.

Did Utah ever have eighteen wins on the season at this point in previous years? Can't recall.

We need to win some of these 50/50 games. I know we were favored against Porty, but I never felt great about that one. Will take 46 wins to make the playoffs imo... need to go 15-6... tall order.
