Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

Off days suck.

Looking ahead the teams in front and right behind us play eachother and the Rockets a ton in the coming days. Timberwolves are gonna be the team that’s hardest to pass I think, not a very tough schedule. If we can get past the Thunder or Pelicans I think we can stay ahead.

T-Wolves certainly look to have been rejuvenated a bit with that win against GSW.

Even still, they're neck and neck with Denver for the worst defensive team out of the top 10 of the WC. Anything can happen when you can't stop anyone.

Wouldn't be shocked if they ended up in the 6th seed behind Utah.

agreed. I would rather play pelicans, clippers, nuggets, trailblazers, t-wolves, or spurs than okc. They are the matchup i want the least out of western playoff teams (besides warriors and rockets)

The Brewer pick up flew under the radar but it's been big for them. A 3 & D vet who can hit open shots is huge when 2 all-stars are getting all the attention.

He's more than made up for Patterson ******** the bed this year.

He has shot well there, but is a career 28% 3 point shooter. They beat us 3 times out of 4... all of those games had Roberson... and only two of those games had Gobert and I think one of the two he played was his first game back after injury (maybe it was his second).

I ain't scurred.

OKC v. Clippers tonight

This is basically a risk appetite game. Are you conservative and want to ensure making playoffs? Then pull for OKC. Are you bullish and want a higher seed above all? Pull for Clipps.

I think I'm pulling for OKC lol

If you look at 538's individual game breakdowns, the Jazz have at least a 40% chance in eight of their last ten games and are favored in six of them. Overall, 538 thinks they're going to drop one of the games where they're favored, hence the 47-35 predicted record. The Jazz are favored by over 70% against the Clippers, Lakers (Salt Lake), Memphis and Boston. They're around a 60% favorite against the Warriors in Salt Lake and a narrow favorite against the Lakers in LA.

That said, if everything went according to 538's predictions for the overall records of the other WC playoff teams -- except the Jazz win both of the games against the T-Wolves AND Blazers then the Jazz would actually end with the #3 seed. Under that scenario they could even drop one of the six games where they're actually favored. The final records for the T-Wolves would be 47-35, Jazz and Blazers 49-33 with the Jazz owning tiebreaker.

I'm not pretending that everything is going to work out this way. 538 may be undershooting Minnesota's win projection. Unlike every other WC 3-10 except for the Jazz, the T-Wolves don't have a brutal schedule, particularly after this weekend.

It's a little off topic, but I was looking at the standings and we've pulled even with Philadelphia. Jazz 39-30, Sixers 37-30. I hope we can finish with a better record than them. If DM leads the Jazz to the playoffs as the leading scorer on the team and the Jazz finish with a better record in a tougher conference I think it would strengthen DM's case for ROTY a lot in the minds of the voters.

I like that we hold the tie-breaker over San Antonio and New Orleans. That advantage could come into play with at least one of those teams.

I think Golden State is very like to rest players against us in their last game of the season. They're close to locked into the 2nd seed, and they're already resting guys. No way they'd risk Curry re-aggravating his ankle. They'll use their first-round match-up to get some rhythm, even if they lose a game in the series.

Portland might rest players on their final game of the season as well. Hard to tell. It's possible that the Jazz can get to 48 or even 49 wins.

Can you imagine Clutchfans if the Jazz beat the Rockets in the second round? Would there be anything sweeter than reading those threads? I'd save those to my hard drive like some dudes save porn.

They would quickly resort to their fall back defense mechanism, Jazz don't have a ring and posting lame jpeg's from their 1994/95 championship.

Clips are better with Harris than they were with Blake.

I don't even think it's debatable anymore .
Going back to the whole psychology of the game, Blake is one of many guys who puts up good numbers but doesn’t help you win. Like Booker and many others. Anyway, everyone pays lip service to that but nobody actually follows through with moves like that unless they’re forced.

nets vs 76ers game right now reminds me that, NO GAME IS A GIVEN. Jazz better bring their A game to these last 13 games....or we're going to be outside looking in again.

I think Clippers are pretty much trash. The weakest team in the top 10.

I disagree. They aren't "trash" they are actually a well organized team. The players all mostly play within the system and have solid movement.

A bunch of average players who do okay because they play well together. A very nonthreatening team. I doubt they make the playoffs.

DJ isn't "average" he's a damn solid anchor for their defense
Williams can get buckets
and Harris has been a 20ppg scorer for the clips.
