Jazz 2017/18 Playoff Bus! All Aboard!

Not totally. Kerr was pissed after their loss to the Pacers so I think they come out vs the Pels ultra focused, trying to get some momentum and into the playoff basketball mindset a little early since they’ve been so erratic. And the Rox are still the Rox and at home.
I hear you. I just wouldn't bet a wooden nickel on the outcome with either of them. They could try to rest their main guys, or try to get in sync for the post season.

I was thinking the same thing but for the Warriors it's their final game. They may just wrap it up.
Bah! They'll want to win, and I'm sure they'd love to give us a real lesson, but I don't think they're going to be On[tm], and not being On[tm], they're going to lose.

So many losers around here. We've been stomping one team after another, and we still hear the same pathetic"maybe GS and Portland will let us win?".

That's what 4 years of Ty Corbin made for the fans.

Guarantee you they both wanted to win the 2 times the Jazz have already beaten each of them.

After how bad this team was on the road to start the season, it’s frankly amazing that they have even a slim chance at getting the #3 seed. They’re young, (mostly) healthy and supremely confident. I can tell you right now that they’re not afraid of ANY team they will face in the playoffs. I think last year’s team was just happy to be there. This year’s team knew all along that they would be. What a difference it makes to have Rudy and Donovan leading this group.

I tend to the more pessimistic side of things here on the board, probably as a psychological protection mechanism, but I'm feeling really interested in how things will go in the playoffs. I really want us to be healthy, and I think we can make some noise. Weird things happen in sports sometimes. It would be awesome if something even more amazing than what we've already seen this season happens.

Honestly I prefer the 4th seed to the 3rd. I would rather face Houston in the second then a healthy warriors. I might prefer us to rest a game or two and if we can keep the 4th rather than push for 3rd.

But 3rd seed would be cool.

I'll be very very happy with home court though.
How would you feel about playing OKC or SAS in the second round after they knock an unhealthy GS off?

Mitchell has a little bit of Zeke in him -- doesn't have Zeke's handle and doesn't have the passing ability (but he's bigger and might have a better jumpshot), but he makes those crazy shots driving at the rim. As a kid, Isaiah was a lot of fun to watch -- Bird and Magic's greatness was not always immediately apparent to a little kid, Jordan and Isaiah's was.

It's fascinating to me how fearful some people are of disappointment. What are you protecting your psych against? Did you know that Einstein said that imagination is more important than knowledge, because knowledge is limited by what's possible. Or if he didn't say that, he should have. Maybe I just imagined it.

Really it's about keeping things in perspective, which is probably going to shake out differently for each of us. If my pastime of rooting for the Jazz starts to change my mood and the way I relate to my kids or wife, for example, I think that's a problem. Like ending up in a bad mood after a loss, being irritable because of a basketball team (no matter how much—or because of how much—I love the team) seems like it isn't worth it to me. And so I regulate how being a fan impacts the rest of my life. Some people are naturally more chill than I am, and can really enjoy it in different ways than I do.

I don't talk about my personal way of being a fan here in order to convince people that this is the right way to be a fan. I figure maybe it can be helpful to people who experience fandom the way I do.

I wonder which teams are hoping they will draw the Jazz in the playoffs.

I know the answer. None.

When my Blazer fanatic friend told me he really didn't want to see Utah in the playoffs I felt even more confident in our odds. Guy wears Blazer goggles hardcore, so it says something that he fears Utah.

I do think “Blazer headband” would be a more well understood phrase. Clifford Robinson revolutionized the headband and, by the late 90s, Paul Allen was offering contract incentives to any Blazer donning the headband. Somehow they’ve managed to shake the Jail Blazer stigma.

not much faith in the suns up against the pelicans, but I do have a strong feeling that the Lakers might beat the Wolves. The Lakers have played solid at home this season against a lot of top teams.

Guess I'm now spoiled. Don't care much about any other teams except OKC and Portland. Outside shot at the 3rd seed and really need OKC to lose one more game. Of course, Jazz also need to take care of business against the Lakers.
