I have noticed that Hollinger is a Jazz fan of sorts. I think it comes down the the fact that the Jazz play basketball the way it is supposed to be played. As a team. I personally dislike watching the NBA as a whole for that reason until the playoffs. Teams with there star player doing nothing but Iso all game long drives me nuts. Thats not basketball. That lets see if I can beat the other team by my self while the other guys stand around and watch. My second favorite team up until a few years ago was the Hawks. But watching the Joe Johnson show every game has completely turned me off to them. I hope with a new coach and maybe Johnson leaving well make them fun to watch again.
The Jazz play a team game. Because of that they get more out of there talent level than any other team in the regular season. And that translates into wins. The problem is that the other teams start playing the right way come playoff time. (at least those with a real coach). And with there better talent are able to beat the Jazz. The Jazz well alway be a great regular season team as long as Sloan is the coach. Why? because they play the way Basketball was meant to be played.
If you watched the Finals you understand what I am saying. The teams really started paying defense and the only way to get a good shot was ball movement and a lot of screens. Even then almost every shot was contested. That brings the scoring down and makes the game a battle. Kobe had a hard time getting the shots he wanted were he wanted them because of that defense.
I (like Hollinger) Like watching Basketball being played the right way. That why I think he like the Jazz as much as he does. So even though there are teams with better championship history and better players he rates the Jazz higher than them. (ie the Knicks)
