Jazz 7th best franchise in NBA history according to ESPN's John Hollinger

I just got done reading this. The Jazz win a lot of games. True they have never won a chip. But they have been consistently good for so long I think us fans are a little spoiled by it. Just think we could be the Clippers or Grizzlies And have one winning season every 10 years.

Obviously the top 2 are Boston and LA and #1 is very debatable. I'd give it to the Lakers because I think they will probably win a couple more before Kobe/Gasol are done.
My list
1. Lakers
2. Celts
3. Bulls - 6 championships & Michael Jordan
4. Spurs
5. Rockets
6. Pistons
7. 76ers
8. Jazz
9. Suns
10. Knicks

the one that will piss people off in his rankings is that the Knicks don't show up until #17.

Leaves it to Huffinger to run around dissin Earl the Pearl, Clyde, Dollar Bill, Jerry Lucas, and Davy da Bush, eh?

P.S. Good ole Willis Reed, too, needless to saz.

Consistent winning seems to be much more highly rated in his formula than one championship and several years of really bad results.

I have noticed that Hollinger is a Jazz fan of sorts. I think it comes down the the fact that the Jazz play basketball the way it is supposed to be played. As a team. I personally dislike watching the NBA as a whole for that reason until the playoffs. Teams with there star player doing nothing but Iso all game long drives me nuts. Thats not basketball. That lets see if I can beat the other team by my self while the other guys stand around and watch. My second favorite team up until a few years ago was the Hawks. But watching the Joe Johnson show every game has completely turned me off to them. I hope with a new coach and maybe Johnson leaving well make them fun to watch again.

The Jazz play a team game. Because of that they get more out of there talent level than any other team in the regular season. And that translates into wins. The problem is that the other teams start playing the right way come playoff time. (at least those with a real coach). And with there better talent are able to beat the Jazz. The Jazz well alway be a great regular season team as long as Sloan is the coach. Why? because they play the way Basketball was meant to be played.

If you watched the Finals you understand what I am saying. The teams really started paying defense and the only way to get a good shot was ball movement and a lot of screens. Even then almost every shot was contested. That brings the scoring down and makes the game a battle. Kobe had a hard time getting the shots he wanted were he wanted them because of that defense.

I (like Hollinger) Like watching Basketball being played the right way. That why I think he like the Jazz as much as he does. So even though there are teams with better championship history and better players he rates the Jazz higher than them. (ie the Knicks)

Pretty sure this was shown last year but yeah good stuff.

Jazz should be ahead of Suns who also have not won a championship

Very well put. Dont worry about Vinyl. He just vents when a poster says something good about the Jazz.

My favorite line came from his caption on the Memphis Grizzlies: "They're the second-most popular basketball team in their own city, and might have the second-largest payroll too."

The Jazz and Suns both deserve to be on there despite not having won titles. In terms of overall winning % both are in the top 10 and neither stays down too long after a bad year. I'd have to say though that Detroit deserves to be on that list more so than Orlando. They've won 3 titles and have many iconic (albeit not so likeable) figures. Portland definitely deserves to be on there, they like the Jazz made the playoffs, what was it, 18 years in a row? Indiana could get some consideration also.
