What's new

Jazz acquire NAW and Juancho Hernangomez for Ingles, Hughes, and two 2nd round picks.

The numbers like him his sophomore year, mostly because he created a lot of turnovers. I haven't watched him enough to really look at his defense, but as far as actually being a good on ball defender I'm going to give it a no. But if he's got one of those crazy wingspans IIRC and he's quick.

He's very much a "The idea of" type of prospect. Everyone loved him out of the draft because of all his traits...but he's really stunk it up after a promising sophomore year.
Yeah, I liked him in the draft. I'd lie if I told you I've watched a lot of NOP games(who would do that to himself?)... but he was raw coming into the league and everybody thought he'd take time to develop. And NOP seem to have given up on that project. It's by no means certainty that he will turn things around, but he's a good shot to take as a second draft type of guy.

NAW is one of those guys where you're intrigued by what he brings to the table with his length and athletic ability but then you come to realization that it's negated by the fact that he CAN'T ****ING SHOOT!

How the hell they gonna play this guy with Forrest? Fricking 2018 all over again.

I don't dislike Hernangomez but have to wonder where his role is. Is Gay on the move?

Butler is a better prospect than NAW btw....
I have a feeling we may see him moved and it will make me sad... and then mad about the deal we made today.

One of the seconds we sent is surely the second we have this year from Memphis which is like the 56th pick.

How would we know? Quin has turned into one of those coaches that hates young players and allows them zero chance to grow... if they mess up, they go in the dog house. Even though his vets mess up even worse game after game after game and face no consequences.

We need to see the second move. It could be Gay or Juancho on the move. Or they just keep em all... who the hell knows.

I could see us flipping Juancho for like Ibaka to save the clips a little money and address a real need. It's all kinda fluid right now.

I would have never thought in a million years we would trade team legend Joe Ingles AND two 2nd rounders for NAW and an expiring to save $11 million.

WTF are we doing?

I kinda see him as a poor man's Levert. I see why people like these players as prospects. Good size, shooting, shot creation, athleticism/length....he's got the whole package. But as far as it actually amounting to anything? Not much. Levert has people that think he could have been all star, but he's probably a 6th man at best. NAW is more on the edge of if he's an NBA caliber player or not.

This deal is definitely a money move first, but I don't think NAW is nothing. And if we move on from Clarkson I actually like this as a setup deal a lot. A few months ago, I think people were thinking of NAW as very good value for where he was drafted. After the all star break he was averaging 15 PPG and his metrics were really solid. But he's just been sooo bad this year it's hard to ignore. It's not a terrible idea to buy low on players, and I've always maintained that getting players from toxic situations is a market inefficiency.

Ainge is gonna shake **** up. Utah fans have a certain mentality and our logic has never won a ring. Ainge is a champion let him work his magic, he will need to get us out of our norm and comfort zone of doing things. Just trust.

I'm taking Butler who's 21 and had no opportunity over NAW who's 23 and had all the opportunity.

LMAO....You think the Jazz haven't won a ring because the fan mentality, or is because of the people who actually make decisions that fans are supposed to be blind trusting in?

Yeap. This is not the same Jazz anymore. Let's see what DA can do with the limited hand he was dealt with.

That's what I mean, we need to lose this mentality of Utah Jazz kinda guy. We are tripping with this trade, do we even know that these guys won't be on the move again? Ainge was brought here for a reason and that wasn't to keep things the same. I hated DL and I made many threads about him, he embodied the Utah Jazz passive foolish front office moves. Smith, Ainge and company are on a mission to change that. Wade too

February 2022: bro TPEs are incredibly valuable and give you ultimate flexibility to take players that could be key pieces.

February 2023: bro most all TPEs expire and they just don’t get used often across the league. You shouldn’t have any hopes about TPEs.

Repeat process next time we generate a TPE in salary clearing.
You forgot the condescending Lolz

If we could package Clarkson and Hernangomez, we could target a sizable contract player
Clarkson and Hernangomez plus a first for Barnes works financially. If the Kings would accept it, that's another question, but they still traded Haliburton, so...

I like it. That's a good deal. NAW hasn't been able to shoot the ball though. He's kind of like Frank Ntilikina in that sense.

Jazz could still be in play with Clarkson and a FRP. Sacramento wasn't interested in Ingles after his injury.
