Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Not sure if this was mentioned today but on the WFAN, the largest sports radio show in the country (out of NYC), they said this am that evidently a few people in the Knicks FO are now willing to give up Barrett to get the deal done.

Obviously no idea what that would mean for picks though.

Its been discussed.

This what I been sayin... we also have Vando who is cheap AF if that is what seals the deal.

Pretty crazy if we flip the Minny parts for an unprotected pick (Count the other one as coming from Bogey) from the Lakers after getting 4 and a swap from Minny. Good hell... if Kessler is good people gonna cry so much.
I expect Vando to be in the deal to the Lakers if it happens. He just switched to Clutch Sports which is LeBron's agency.

Prolly... I'm fine with it. He's good and he's cheap, but he's a role player and we aren't really tryin to win nothin.

Barrett, Toppin or Grimes, Fournier, two unprotected, one with fair protections and one pick swap.

Is that too much? Too little?

Picks are like magical and super valued until you make then the value craters to nothing, likely a negative value and very rarely a gem.
This is loud wrong.

I don't understand why people keep trying to use Vando as a throw in to the Lakers deal. He has more value than that and is the perfect guy to start a baseline for a fledgling young team. There are probably 7 or 8 teams that would be interested in Vando if we put him on the market.

Barrett is the guy that will cost too much if we receive him…Quickley is the guy we’d get on a discount. I’m actually really interested to see what Quickley would do as our starting PG next year averaging 30+ MPG.

He’s not a throw in, he has value right now and that’s why people are open to moving him. We will suck during his contract and probably for years after it expires.

I like Vando a lot, but his value is probably highest right now and I don’t trust our ability to resign him when we’ll still be a **** team.

I think he's good but he's also a guy that fits best with a shooting 5 or at least another big that can shoot it. On our team I'm not sure his play will look as impressive as it did in Minny. Cheap deal and productive player. He might net a protected first on his own. I think he is the hinge piece in getting both Lakers picks.

If you can get both without him then go for it and keep him.

Exactly. It’s going to be much different for him. Playing with KAT was ideal…playing with Kessler and Doke not so much.

He'll look marvelous. He will likely be our starting center And pull down offensive rebound after offensive rebound if we end up trading away our shooters.

Even when you are tanking you need to keep people that can actually play basketball and do the unappreciated things. If you just throw out a collection of young athletes you will never get a sense of who can actually play or who just dunks cool.

His warts will be more prominent playing next to a non shooting center or being an undersized center.

We likely start the season with Mike, JC, Fournier, Toppin, Quickley... it will be bad but not so bad you can't evaluate things. Fontecchio looks like he could be a nice find too. We will be fine.

If we can keep Vando and get both Lakers picks I'm super cool keeping him... until we can get a first for him at least.

The extra pick is for taking Westbrooks contract. Lakers aren't going to keep him around this year. He has to be traded.

I think we have better pieces to trade for the Lakers pick than the pacers. They don't need a top shelf center. The could pick up Whiteside. AD is their center in the playoffs.

Something I'm thinking about though, at the end of the tank after the Jazz FO has hopefully drafted at least three of our future starting line-up and at least one of them seems like a legit top tier prospect, these good players/solid supporting cast players are exactly what could get packaged up and traded to fill out the rest of our rotation. You've got to have actual tradable players in addition to just having picks once you switch to compete mode from tank mode.
