They don't have all the answers, either. Lots of times it's damn near impossible to predict how injuries will affect players, because human bodies are all one of a kind. No doubt GS looked into trading away Curry when his ankle kept getting injured over and over and over. The bucks dumped Bogut after he looked to be cursed by injuries, and he was an important part of bringing a championship to GS.

It really comes down to making an educated guess with players who have multiple weird injury problems. Obviously if Utah's medical staff believed Favors would never be the same, Utah would try to trade him at some point, but either way, you're gambling on which way things will go.
 
safe to say thats the longest FG we'll see from the Jazz this season. good, for 11 mil and his history at the buzzer you've almost gotta expect a handful of those (not from that range tho..)

It's the nature of the injury. Have you ever had something like shin splints? The pain starts to get so intense you cant do the things you normally can, and it only gets worse the more you try to play through it. That is the same kind of injury Favors had, but in his knee. It's something you have to do a lot of rehab, where you cant do anything that puts weight on it. He and the medical staff probably need to retool his training, maybe have him lose some weight in the off-season. The injury isnt minor, but it's not surgery. When you surgically repair something, you usually cant be back to the athletic level you could pre-injury. That isnt the case with what Favors has, but the recovery still takes a long time.
