Jazz and the big man strategy

Basketball hasn't really changed.
eh? Go watch some video of the NBA from 20 years ago. The speed, quickness, strength and overall explosiveness of the players has increased dramatically. Further, rule changes have made wing scoring much more effective relative to post scoring. The game has changed a ton.

The history of the teams also says that Sloan should still be coaching. Things change. Hope is on the horizon!

Show me evidence that the Jazz focus on the big man offense has changed. I see none, in fact so far the opposite. Again, how many plays were set up for Hayward last year with Al and Sap on the floor? Any? I do not see Harden out on the wing, shoes nailed to floor, trying to make an entry pass to Ibaka time after time. I do see Hayward in that position a lot.

The rules changed in the 90's and since then there has still been big men dominated teams. Shaq and the Lakers, Duncan and the Spurs (which made up most of the 00's championships). Also, Dirk and the Mavs of last year. Every championship team has had a fairly dominant big man scorer besides the Pistons.

All I said is that there is hope.

The Jazz are building their team the right way. Someone on the team has to step up as a 20+ ppg game scorer though. We lack a player who is going to bring the game home in crunch time currently, and we lack a player who is clearly going to develop into that.

We seem to have the interior defense part on lock though, which the 1/2 the equation.

If there is a god we can get Dwill and we should have a championship contending team in 2-3 years if Kanter and Favors develop.

You will have to modify this statement in a couple weeks.

eh...
fairly dominant is a hedge..... a contradiction in terms....
neither the Heat nor the Thunder run the offense through a PF or C posting up near the basket and scoring 25 a game

Yeah, but both use them as pretty important pieces spreading the floor with their mid-range games.

And Bosh was 25 ppg scorer. He hasn't gotten any worse, he just doesn't have the touches to score that much consistently.

Are Favors and Kanter going to be better than Gasol/Bynum were for LA this year? That's a tall order. How did they do in the playoffs this year?

This year, in particular? Yes, I think they will be. Did LA make Gasol and Bynum the focus of their offense? I heard otherwise, but didn't watch the games.

The speed, quickness, strength, and overall explosiveness of the C's and PF's has pretty much kept pace with those of the wings. Outside of improvements in 3pt percentage, wing scoring is not more efficient than post play today.
