Jazz are in trouble

Matthews is a helluva player but that contract, especially how it's front loaded i don't think they match it but I didn't think they would have matched Millsap or Miles. Whats next Portland will offer K fes 4 years 32 mil?????

Honestly, we may be a crappy team next year. No Carlos,no Kyle and no Matthews.
I sure hope Kevin has a great plan or the Jazz might be a lotto team. Knowing O Conner he won't be very pro active in the FA market and trade market and instead will sign D leaguers and hope Deron stays happy.

But hey, a lottery pick, Ante and a lot of $ to spend for 2011 doesn't sound too bad, does it?

Any ideas?

4 and $ 32 for Fes sounds about right. And what will they offer KK when he is on the market?

I think they are a .500 team but they could surprise me. Wes or not we are in the just out of lottery range limbo. I would rather be in it or a competitive team.

How about we give up hope now?

But honestly, as a Jazz fan, I really hope we do suck this year. I want CJ to emerge as a 20 PPG player. And I want Deron to take the year off so we can get the number one pick. I don't want to be stuck in the 7-8th seed at best, or even late lottery. That is hell, unless we are aggressive in the FA market next season.

Exactly.

Chip up. Carlos and Millsap are equal (what Millsap gives up offensively he makes up for defensively). AK at 4 replaces Millsap's backup duties really well too. AK is better at the 4.

Matthews hurts a little bit because he's tough and works hard. But I think he's pretty much reached his ceiling and Brewer can replace his production without losing much. And at a better price. As far as outside shooting it's not like Matthews was dead eye from out there. Brewer definitely isn't, but he can slash with the best of 'em.

Jazz drafted Hayward and that's when Korver realized they weren't bringing him back. Hayward may not be as accurate as the guy who just got the 3 pt% record but Hayward looks pretty good and he'll get a chance to develop faster without Kyle hogging his minutes.

Oh, and CJ can stroke it pretty good from outside.

The thing to be concerned about is the 5. But that's the same as last year too. Maybe Jazz can swap the Harp exception for Gortat.

At any rate, it isn't as bleak as some make it sound.

Ha ya when CJ was on he could stroke it. When he wasn't he was god awful.

Here is our lotto line up

D Will, Price, Gaines
CJ,Jeffers
Ak,Hayward
Milly,AK
Fes,KK2,Okur

Who would we beat with that line up??

Unfortunately more teams than we should. Sloan teams at least usually show up with effort regardless of the talent level they have. I would rather we win 12 games like the Nets then to go 41-41 and out of the playoffs.

75% of the teams in the league depending on how AK is playing.

We're not in trouble.

We'd be in trouble if we were still in the LT. We'd be in trouble if Deron had blown out his knee. We'd be in trouble if we had a bunch of long term contracts still.

As of right now, we're not in a very great situation but far from trouble.

In my opinion, New York is in by far worse trouble than we're in. Amare for a long term deal, idiots. Atlanta is in trouble, their team sucked in the playoffs and then they broke the bank to sign Joe Johnson? Muahaha! Cleveland is screwed, they don't have any talent left on that roster. Denver is in trouble, as their whole team is approaching retirement and Melo is looking to bolt. San Antonio is in trouble, few young promising players yet many old timers ready for retirement. Suns are in trouble too, Nash is on his last leg.

If we suck next year, that's great! We'll have a lotto pick and plenty of cash to use to improve.

If we're good, then kudos to our team. We weren't going to win the championship anytime w/Boozer and Korver. If we're still a playoff team without those two pansies, then more power to the Jazz.

So you are saying the Jazz are slightly worse than last year. Unfortunately, several teams have gotten better. Portland and Clippers had a lot of injuries. OKC is better. The only team that stayed the same is Denver, SA and LA. We still cannot beat LA so I guess staying the course should be the Jazz marketing slogan. Oh yea I doubt Okur will be the same player he was before his injury. Besides Okur was declining before the injury. I think the Jazz are going to be ok but I think they will be fighting to stay in the playoffs. Hopefullly, the Jazz are just waiting a year and with the cap space next year get two superstars next year or one very good player and a superstar.

Let's see, this offseason we likely lost best defender, best scorer, best rebounder, best FG shooter, best 3 point shooter, best FT shooter, and got NOTHING back for it. One would think we would get worse if this happens, no?

Another fan (supposedly) that is underestimating the value and capacity of current players. You have no idea about what you're talking about if you have not heard of Jerry Sloan. I tell you, he is not a great coach but is far far from the worst one. Remember the 41-41 season? Seriously, what have the Jazz with the "Great" Carlos Boozer achieved? Stop overreacting. We certainly will not make the Finals but as long as this team plays under the discipline and system of Sloan, regardless of who is healthy, how much money the players earn, the Jazz will make the playoffs. At least, we will not be luxury tax payers, and will take a huge step towards rebuilding process. I'm curious to hear how many teams that undergo rebuilding process have managed to make the playoffs. My prediction about how far could this team go depends on two major factors:
- Memo's health status, when he will regain his game rhythm.
- AK's new role.

Your expectations should not be high -like WCF or Finals. We obviously do not have depth and versatility for now. However, I like our chances on making playoffs. Why not 5th or 6th seed? The two teams that I expect to dominate the Western Conf. are LAkers and THunder. Nuggets are very good, too. Aside from them? Not too impressive. The Jazz have something that they can rely on (especially during regular seasons :) ); system + discipline.
