Jazz at Trail Blazers April 8th

Pretty sobering night to say the least. I knew our goose was cooked when the Clippers dismantled the Spurs in S.A. Though it didn't look it on paper, our task was tougher as Portland is playing for their playoff lives. Who am I kidding, this turnstile of players coming back from injury is killing our chemistry, and at the worst possible time. At this point (pretty glum) I give us a snowball's chance against the Clippers.

Exum has a 7.0 PER for his career. He had 5.7 during his first season and now has 9.1. Have in mind that 15.0 means "average". The numbers back me up: Exum has played like crap his whole career. By the way, only 18 players have manage, this season, to play as much minutes as Exum while having a worse PER. Here's the list: https://bkref.com/tiny/8Cahl

All true.

But his DRPM has improved massively since the AS break. He still sucks based on the season totals, but his improvement in the metric has been pronounced. So much so that if he played at his defensive potential night on night, he would be a borderline lock down defender at the hardest position to guard on the floor.

Also, he has stroked a few 3s in recent times and he can (occasionally) finish at the rim.

His numbers suck. But as long as he makes some substantial progress in the next 12-18 months, there is reason to be optimistic.

Still snowing

Don't be a bitch. We gonna beat the clippers

Plus, next year Portland will have a better record. Nurkic and Crabbe were out tonight.

i'm guessing you were one of the morons that talked about how much better Portland was rebuilding and how much better they'd be than us this year at the end of last season ?? How many injuries have they had this year ? Not to mention they have ZERO financial flexbility. Even for you that sentence is pretty damned stupid.

Firstly, you're using a metric which measures what.. half of the game ? Second, you've shown he's already significantly improved from an albiet paltry output in his first year despite coming off a serious injury. I think it's reasonable to assume given his previous inexperience another noticable improvement next season to maybe even your magical "average" player. Thirdly this doesn't take into account that he's playing on a good team which values playing the right way and that he is being held strictly accountable by his coach in learning how to play the right way. He certainly has played pretty crap offensively for big chunks of his career thus far but just spouting out PER is pretty shortsighted of how he's being handled and his curve of progression.

Over 10 years of jazzfanzing, and tonight was the 1st time I met a fellow Jazzfanzer.

Shout out to LOP. Wish the game had been better, but thanks for the poster work. I'm going to use that stuff for a 2 sided poster next time Jazz are in Portland.

Hope you enjoy your concert!

Thanks Cappy. Great to meet you.

Al Farouq Aminu grabbed more boards than Rudy? Shocking. How does a team missing 3 centers play Utah to a standstill on the glass?

sounds like the work of NOAH VONLEH... Saint Cy of JFC

Nice of you to finally show up. Where were you a few days ago when Vonleh had 2 points and 1 rebound in 21 minutes?

I had this as a loss when I predicted the last 6 games of the season a week ago. So far my Jazz predictions have been spot on. I also had the Jazz winning the last two so hopefully my predictions continue.

Rudy is the only reason our team is winning. That is a fact. Hayward's #s are inflated because the offense is ran through him. He is a third or fourth fiddle on a real playoff team.

Except he is the #1 option on a real playoff team. Gobert is a big factor but Hayward is still our #1 option on offense and lead us to the playoffs.

Thought it was cool that Lillard gave JJ the game ball for reaching 20,000 point despite Lillard scoring a franchise record.
