What's new

Jazz atleast taking/making calls!

It wouldn't surprise me either way if they made a big splash, a small dribble, or nothing at all. But my money is on nothing at all, unfortunately.

The really tough thing right now, is there isn't much out there to get. Most of the trades proposed that make sense don't really make us that much better. The trades that make us obviously better just don't make sense. With a looming lockout an expiring contract just does not have the same value (also taking into account the upcoming free agent and draft classes are mediocre at best). I am thinking we are who we are and that won't change much anytime soon.

I think the thing thats important for the Jazz is to get some role players back. Even if it doesn't make them better this year. I think that we need to get some decent role players back for next year. Because were going to lose Ak anyways. So, why not cash him in for something. It would just stink to pay him a hundred millionish as a jazz man and then have him leave for nothing!! Cash him in Mr. O Connor, Please!!!!

Isn't that the major complaint with our team already? Bunch of role players not enough stars...

Save money and get Maggette who is a guy who gets to the free throw line which we need badly. And a proven scorer. Jazz signed him before to a contract. He could play 28 minutes a night for us and score 16 a game in that short amount of time. Maggette coming off screens would be hard to stop. He really hasn't played in a system that demands that.

Bucks dump Maggette's contract while getting a proven PF to play next to Bogut. Spreads the court for Bogut to work down low. And he can rebound. They have been changing the PF spot all year long. Money is the ultimate decision.

Nets are going to lose out on Melo. Knicks just offered Felton, Chandler, Gallo & Curry for Melo & Billups. So Nets get AK to make the Russian happy. lol

Jazz Fanz, STOP w/ the Maggette trades... he makes ~30M the next 3 years & he's not an outside threat

What we need mostly is another perimeter defender (see PHX/GS games) & perimeter shooter!!!
That said: SJax, Mayo, Morrow, WChandler, Redick (decreasing contract), JRich (last yr of contract), VCarter (same w/ JRich), or Barbosa

these trades work:
1) SJax & Diaw for AK/Elson
2) JRich for AK
3) VCarter for AK

Illyasova for Hayward. Need to get rid of that untalented unathletic white stiff. Sorry thought it would be kool to sound like NCojazz.

Racist Punk... White guys can jump. And it's not the jumping/athleticism that's the problem, it's the making shots that's the problem. Unfortunately, everyone's in that slump.

Your realize SJax is shooting 33 percent from the 3? And Maggette is shooting 35 percent?
Just because you jack up a lot of 3's doesn't make you a legitimate threat.

I understand Maggette isn't a major threat. But we need scoring more than just 3 point shooting. I will take free throw line points over 3 point shots any day. Bell and Miles and Deron are shooting plenty of 3 point shots for the team.

Mayo is not available unless we want to give up Millsap. Not worth it.
We cannot get Morrow. Nets love him.
WChandler is going to be traded to the Nuggets and even if he wasn't we don't have a good offer. Unless its Millsap. Not a bad trade but Chandler could be a product of the system.
We have nothing the magic want. We cannot get Redick
We can't get JRich. Again we have nothing to offer.
And why would you want Vince Carter? you lost credibility suggesting that.
Barbosa? Really? He can't play defense? where you going to fit in him in the rotation?

I am not saying I don't want SJax but comparing the 2 isn't that far off. Miles is a better shooter than SJax. Same with Bell. This craze for 3 point shooters is totally not right. We need consistent scoring from the wing positions. Its not just 3 point shooters. And guys who jack up 3 point shots aren't reliable. That is why Miles and Bell aren't working for us. They don't drive. We need someone who can just score in general.

Yes, i know that Mayo/Chandler/Redick are unattainable given our assets (i was excluding Millsap) but Maggette, come on....
Also, Jax DOES jack up 3s (5.5 attempts @ 34%) but Maggs doesnt even have that range (hence, pose a perimeter threat).
Plus, Jax is more of a playmaker & getting to the line more, just means Maggs is a ball-hog.
As for Vince/JRich (im just eyeing wings w/ 3pt range who could be avail in an AK-swap)... as for Barbosa, he's just another athletic 2 who could assist Deron in running the offense (its moot cause we're not giving Millsap for him either).

That being said, I'd love for KOC to think about AK/Elson for Jax/Diaw.
Deron/Watson/Price
Jax/Raja
CJ/Hayward
Millsap/Diaw/Evans
Jefferson/Okur/Fes

That was last year. This season Jazz have 2 legit starters and about 5 other guys that should be in the NBA. The rest should either be in Europe, the D-League or retired. Heck, if Utah brought back Jarron Collins, he could very well be one of their best and most consistent players.

I think thats why we need Maggette and the article said that there gonig for a scorer not a 3 point threat. Maggette gets to the line easily, yes a ballhog sometimes but we need to get some dept from AK right now or were end up with him just leaving this next offseason! So Salmons and Maggette or even better, Delfino, Maggette, and Irasolva for Ak Hayward would be the best thing for the Jazz. All 3 have reasonable contracts and would give us a few potential pieces for the future.

And If we have to take Salmons plus maggette, I liked the idea of including Okur! Anyways the Jazz need to do something and if Ak made our team look like this Id be a very happy Jazz fan.

Dwill,Miles,Irasolva,Millsap,Jefferson
Watson,Bell,Delfino,Maggette,Fez

I totally agree the bench is need of an upgrade!

How stupid is NY for making that trade? The reason why the Knicks have sucked all these years is because the organization/fans are impatient. How many games are left in this season? Why not wait until the end of the season and sign Melo? Then trade either Chandler or Gallo to sure up your weaknesses. Do the Knicks think Carmelo is going to make up the production for all those players? What about having an unhappy Billups who doesn't want to leave Denver? I could see making this trade if they had to wait two or three more years to get Carmelo but geez how many games are left in the season? It is just plain dumb and it even becomes dumber when everyone knows that Carmelo wants to go to the Knicks and no other team. Why bid against yourself? Call Carmelo's agent and tell him that they really want him and to be patient. Remind Melo that he wants to come to an NBA team that can compete for an NBA championship and having a bench is an important part of it. Otherwise he would be in the same situation he is in Denver.

Dumping salary doesn't really do much good since the team would likely receive longer contracts in return, which, if you look at the Jazz' payroll for next season, is not a good idea. I would suggest that everyone check out this link before making suggestions on what the Jazz need to do with regards to personnel movement.

https://www.shamsports.com/content/pa...aries/jazz.jsp

The only way the Jazz take on longer contracts than the ones they have is if they are receiving a good player on a fair or good contract (i.e. rookie deal or similar to Millsap's deal) and last time I checked teams don't give away those players. So the team either gives up some of it's best assets or takes back bad deals. Does anyone see that happening?

Even with AK expiring at the end of the year and with only 8 players (picking up options) under contract for next year, the Jazz will be above this year's salary cap and with the new CBA, the salary cap will likely be going down. The Jazz won't have any cap room to sign free agents unless the MLE still exists.

The Jazz need to bite the bullet and pay the tax this year, make the playoffs (so we give our pick to Minny this year and not next), figure out if AK is worth bringing back and pray that the new CBA allows them to be competitive in the coming years.

Everyone needs to realize that if a lockout was NOT looming the Knicks WOULD actually wait and sign him this summer. But this story is NOT about the Knicks not willing to wait. It is about Melo not willing to wait because he could lose over 20 million dollars waiting to sign his deal after the new CBA is put in place.
Nets, Nuggets & Knicks all know this and they are all trying to leverage this. Melo wants the Knicks and the Nuggets want the Nets offer. They are seeing who will crack first. That is why we have the wait until the last minutes. Will Melo crack and give in and sign with the Nets so he gets his contract? or will the Nuggets crack and think they could lose Melo for nothing. That is the scenario. Its not just about the Knicks wanting to get Melo right now.
