They can use that exception to trade for a single player in the last year of his contract (no options!), sign a single free agent on a one year deal, or claim a qualifying player off waivers.
Can it be used as part of a bigger, multiplayer deal? Or just the exception for the expiring and that’s it?
Do we get a roster exception?
So it’s pointless.Nope.
Not if Utah sends out more players than they take in after all trading is done. Then they can use the exception. So it’s pointless.
Most likelySo it’s pointless.
My impression was that the Celtics got a temporary (season long) 16th roster spot and $8 million due to the season ending injury of Gordon Hayward. Did we somehow not get the roster spot due to Sefalosha's injury happening after the Jan. 15th cutoff or something dumb like that? I guess I don't get why one team would get a roster spot and another wouldn't unless the injury happens after a cutoff date.
